I instantly started in on "Full Black" which is kind of a part 2 to Foreign Influence. If you want to read them I would recommend you read them in order.
In the prelude to "Full Black" the author notes the following:
The attacks as well as the strategy in this novel are based upon a disturbing blueprint designed to assist in and encourage the destruction of America. This blueprint, entitled Unrestricted Warfare, is real.
While this book is a work of fiction, specific information was purposely altered in certain sections so as not to enable those that wish to do us harm.
"Brad Thor" has an interesting background:
Brad has served as a member of the Department of Homeland Security’s Analytic Red Cell Unit, and is a fellow of the Alexandrian Defense Group. He has lectured to law enforcement organizations on over-the-horizon/future threats and has been a keynote speaker for the National Tactical Officers Association annual conference, and the Ronald Reagan 100 celebration. A strong supporter of The Heritage Foundation, Brad has spoken at their national headquarters on the need for robust missile defense. He also sits on The International Free Press Society’s Board of Advisors, and has served as a judge for the Sam Adams Alliance Annual Awards.
If you choose to get them I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did!
Did he get better after the first book? His maim character bugged the hell out of me. I kept getting the impression every time he passed a mirror he stopped, checked himself out, and said, "Damn, I'm sexy!" And then a major plot point was, "I'm an only one, but I'm going to walk around DC after dark and leave my gun at home."

ReplyDeleteHi Robert...I didn't get that feeling with these two book. I also read The Last PAtriot awhile ago and thats what got me interested in Brad as an author :)

Never read any of Thor's books, might have to give him a try.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever read Alan Furst? My favorite author by far. All of his novels are historical espionage, set in the years leading up to World War II. Usually involve eastern Europeans who are trapped between the Nazis to the West and Soviets to the East. "Night Soldiers" is my favorite, give it a look!

ReplyDeleteI'll look for Brad Thor's works as well. The last thing I read that I really enjoyed was John Ringo's _Last Centurion_.

Ringo is a Baen author, they let you read several early chapters so you get hooked on the story before you buy it. Sneaky sons of guns :-) Also cheaper than Amazon (even with free shipping) if you've got an ereader.

Unrestricted Warfare was a Chinese military paper put out a few years back. Still available as a translated .pdf if you look hard enough.
