If You Could Pass Away Doing What You Liked... What Would It Be?

  It's seems this guy did:

A sailboat carrying the body of a man who appeared to be in his 70s drifted onto the shore of a popular beach in Beverly on Friday afternoon, officials said.
Investigators said the man’s death did not appear to be suspicious, but offered few details about the unusual discovery that came during the middle of a near-perfect summer day for beachgoers and patrons of an adjacent city park.
The 32-foot vessel washed up on a beach at Lynch Park near Ober Street at about 1:30 p.m., said Beverly police Officer Michael Boccuzzi, a department spokesman. He referred further questions to Essex District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett’s office.
In a statement, Blodgett’s office said the man, whom authorities did not name, “appears to have died of natural causes.”

LIONS AND JENNERS AND LOW BALLS OH MY........ Distractions.......

When people are screaming about some outrage or other, look for what the real story they are hiding is.
Deflate-gate rolls on.....

Look a squirrel!

Distractions, nothing more.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I detest poachers and unethical hunters, but this is a matter for the country that it happened in.
NOT a matter for our DOJ.
Manufactured outrage to froth up the SJW's.
Until the next two minutes of hate.

♫♫ Mountain.. Live.. Nantucket Sleighride*... 17 mins ♫♫

Goodbye, little Robin-Marie
Don't try followin' me
Don't cry, little Robin-Marie
'Cause you know, I'm coming home soon
My ships' leaving on a three year tour
The next tide will take us from shore
Wind laced, gather in sail and spray
On a search for the mighty sperm whale
Fly your willow branches, wrap your body round my soul
Lay down your reeds and drums on my soft sheets
There are years behind us reaching
To the place where hearts are beating
And I know, you're the last true love I'll ever meet
And I know, you're the last true love I'll ever meet
Starbuck is sharpening his harpoon
The black man is playing his tune
An old salt is sleepin' his watch away
He'll be drunk again before noon
Three years sailing on bended knee
We found no whales in the sea
Don't cry, little Robin-Marie
'Cause we'll be in sight of land soon
Fly your willow branches, wrap your body round my soul
Lay down your reeds and drums on my soft sheets
There are years behind us reaching
To the place where hearts are beating
And I know, you're the last true love I'll ever meet
And I know, you're the last true love I'll ever meet

*Nantucket Sleigh Ride

Originally the term for harpooning a whale in a rickety boat usually meant to hold no more than 16 people, and letting the whale swim itself tired before killing the whale
Popularised by whale killing off nantucket island

Mainly found in old whaling books, and Moby Dick

The Zero Armed Bandit... Amazing Story!! I never heard about this one.......

Sent in by reader Monty, thanks!

“I don’t think it belongs here.” Such was the assessment of Bob Vinson, the graveyard shift supervisor at Harvey’s Wagon Wheel Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. The “here” Vinson referred to was a nook just outside the telephone equipment room in the employees-only portion of the second floor of the hotel. The “it” was a curious piece of equipment of unknown origin loitering conspicuously in the cramped side room. It was a metallic gray box about the size of a desk, with a smaller box attached on top near the rear right corner. The front face of the smaller box was an incomprehensible control panel occupied by 28 metal toggle switches in five neat rows, each labeled with a numbered sticker. All of these switches were situated in the down position except for #23, which was toggled up—an oddly ominous asymmetry.

Minnesota Dentist Will Be Watching His Back.....

This is just wrong.....

Cecil the lion – the most famous creature in one of Zimbabwe's national parks – was killed by an American hunter who has boasted about shooting a menagerie of animals with his bow and arrow, The Telegraph can reveal.
Walter Palmer, a dentist from Minnesota, is believed to have paid £35,000 to shoot and kill the much-loved lion with a bow and arrow. The animal was shot on July 1 in Hwange National Park. Two independent sources have confirmed the hunter's identity to the paper, which has also seen a copy of the relevant hunting permit.
Conservation groups in Zimbabwe reacted angrily to the news that the 13-year-old animal had been killed: partly because the lion was known to visitors and seemingly enjoyed human contact, and partly because of the way in which he was killed. He was lured out of the national park and shot.
"He never bothered anybody," said Johnny Rodrigues, the head of Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force. "He was one of the most beautiful animals to look at."

How do you fix a shorted cable ? Not just any cable. An underground, 3-phase, 230kV, 800 amp per phase......

...... 10 mile long one, carrying power from a power station to a distribution centre.

Amazing story from one of Aceofspades links.

How do you fix a shorted cable ? Not just any cable. An underground, 3-phase, 230kV, 800 amp per phase, 10 mile long one, carrying power from a power station to a distribution centre. It costs $13,000 per hour in downtime, counting 1989 money, and takes 8 months to fix. That’s almost $75 million. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power did this fix about 26 years ago on the cable going from the Scattergood Steam Plant in El Segundo to a distribution center near Bundy and S.M. Blvd. [Jamie Zawinski] posted details on his blog in 2002. [Jamie] a.k.a [jwz] may be familiar to many as one of the founders of Netscape and Mozilla.
To begin with, you need Liquid Nitrogen. Lots of it. As in truckloads. The cable is 16 inch diameter co-axial, filled with 100,000 gallons of oil dielectric pressurised to 200 psi. You can’t drain out all the oil for lots of very good reasons – time and cost being on top of the list. That’s where the LN2 comes in. They dig holes on both sides (20-30 feet each way) of the fault, wrap the pipe with giant blankets filled with all kind of tubes and wires, feed LN2 through the tubes, and *freeze* the oil. With the frozen oil acting as a plug, the faulty section is cut open, drained, the bad stuff removed, replaced, welded back together, topped off, and the plugs are thawed. To make sure the frozen plugs don’t blow out, the oil pressure is reduced to 80 psi during the repair process. They can’t lower it any further, again due to several compelling reasons. The cable was laid in 1972 and was designed to have a MTBF of 60 years.

Does This Comment Sum It Up Or What?....

I followed the link on THIS POST at BIGFURHAT's place.

The link leads to an article at Breitbart entitled:

Cyclist Burns Used Toilet Paper, Starts Forest Fire

The comments there are worth reading :)

This one especially:

"Why the hell are all the government officials cracking jokes?? This was criminal negligence of the first order!

Seems our government now only exists to coordinate Democrat corruption, reward liberals, enrich welfare recipients, enfranchise and enrich illegal alien invaders, destroy our military all the while punishing hard working tax paying middle class citizens (double penalty if they are male, christian or conservative)."
