Motorcycle Trip Planning.. For Machinists...
The the "American Precision Museum"
One of the exhibits is 1/16 working scale models of machinery by "John Aschauer"
( Lots of info and pics at this previous link)
John Aschauer was a true artist and a technician of rare skill. The museum’s collection of his work includes two working machine shops, a steam power plant, which he began at the age of 14 during his apprenticeship in Germany, and a selection of other models. For each one, he made every tiny screw, bolt and nut, machined every gear and every hydraulic pipe and fitting. Scaled to 1/16 size, his models were made completely from his memory of all the machines he had worked on during his long career in the machine tool industry.
Scroll thru the pictures and videos on this "FLICKR PAGE" I found.

Have You Ever Heard of Jean Michel Jarre?
I bet you have heard some clips from his 1976 album Oxygene....
We used to play this album for hours.......
Jean Michel André Jarre (born 24 August 1948) is a French composer, performer and music producer. He is a pioneer in the electronic, ambient and New Age genres, and known as an organizer of outdoor spectacles of his music featuring lights, laser displays, and fireworks.
His first mainstream success was the 1976 album Oxygène. Recorded in a makeshift studio at his home, the album sold an estimated 12 million copies. Oxygène was followed in 1978 by Équinoxe.

Just In Case You Didn't See This Before.....
Against the background of a darkening sky, all of the past Presidents of the United States gather before the White House, as if to commemorate some great event. In the left hand corner of the painting sits a man. That man, with his head bowed appears distraught and hopeless as he contemplates his future. Some of the past Presidents try to console him while looking in the direction of the modern Presidents as if to say, "What have you done?" Many of these modern Presidents, seemingly oblivious to anything other than themselves, appear to be congratulating each other on their great accomplishments. In front of the man, paper trash is blowing in the wind. Crumpled dollar bills, legislative documents, and, like a whisper—the U.S. Constitution beneath the foot of Barack Obama.

The Irishman, The Skirt and The Bus.....
'In a crowded city at a busy bus stop, a beautiful young woman who was waiting for a bus was
wearing a tight leather skirt.
As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus.
Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg.
Again, she tried to make the step only to discover she still couldn't.
So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the second time attempted the step, and, once again, much to her dismay, she could not raise her leg.
With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind a third time to unzip a little more and again was unable to make the step.
About this time, a large Irishman who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus.
She went ballistic and turned to the would be Samaritan and yelled, "How dare you touch my body! I don't even know who you are!"
The Irishman smiled and said:
"Well, ma'am, normally oi wud agree witcha, but after yer unzipped me fly tree times, oi kinda figured we wus lads!"
Borrowed and modified with all due respect from "SARGE" on a tip from commenter Jim :)

Occupy The PGA!!
I am a member of golf's 99%. I play golf, but have not yet made it to the professional level!!
I have played the game for over 30 years, but have not really put in the practice time and study to be the best. I also probably do not have the skills to really get there either.
However, I now feel that I should be paid by the successful professionals for trying. It isn't fair that those players who have worked harder, have studied the game, have better equipment and are stronger and more skilled should make all that money.
Oh sure, they have their charities that they give millions of dollars to, but I am sure that they write all that off on their tax returns to reduce paying their fair share. Is that fair?
They should pay for my golf, buy me new equipment and pay me some of their winnings. The whole system should be changed to accommodate people like me!!
Let's occupy a golf course and demand that those who are better at what they do pay for us who aren't as good. Whining should get us something, like media attention and sympathy from liberals!!

The Beginning of Profiling......
March 6, 1836 was the day it all started. On that fateful day, Davy Crockett woke up and rose from his bunk on the main floor of the Alamo . He then walked up to the observation post along the west wall of the Fort. William B. Travis and Jim Bowie were already there, looking out over the top of the wall. These three great men gazed at the hordes of Mexicans moving toward them. Suddenly.....with a puzzled look on his face, Crockett turned to Bowie and said, "Jim..... are we having some yardwork done today?" |

AAARRRRRGHHHHH....WTF you BLEEPIN BLEEP.....
Okay, since I have been striking today against the SOPA bill I actually decided to get
something done at work. Rather than spending countless hours posting mundane
useless crap I went out on the road to make deliveries and keep my customers happy.
At 2:00pm this afternoon I was on the passenger side of a water delivery truck when
he decided he wanted to make take a right up a side street. He did a good job of the PIT
maneuver catching the left rear of my drivers side with his right front bumper.
It swerved me to the left and the momentum carried me across the other lane
where I landed against a curb on the shoulder . I will say that I am lucky no one
was coming in the opposite direction, it would have been a lot worse.
The Police showed up and did their report and "Triple A" changed my tire.
We noticed that that rear axle had shifted back and the spring was damaged.
So far the damage that we can tell is a flattened quarter panel,
destroyed tire and rim, bent axle shaft broken leaf spring but luckily no dirty undies ;)
This picture doesnt quite show how flat the side is, and if you look closely there is a
huge gash on the top sidewall of the tire ( 5000 miles old).
So I am filling out forms and getting ready to take it to the shop and let the
insurance companies fight it out. What will be amazing to see is the outcome.
I have been driving since 1978 and have never had an accident.
I pay my insurance bill every month. This should get interesting.

What is wrong in this picture?
The first things I noticed were that she's not wearing ear or eye protection and she is jerking the trigger. Her grip is also too low, resulting in noticeable muzzle flip. I also notice that she fired off 1,537 rounds without reloading.

Neither Predator Nor Prey.. Just Got Delivered.
"JohnnyReb" had recommended this book to me in a comment on an earlier post.

If a dog were your teacher, you would learn great stuff like:
a.. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
b.. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
c.. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
d.. When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
e.. Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
f.. Take naps and stretch before rising.
g.. Run, romp, and play daily.
h.. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
i.. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
j.. On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
k.. On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.
l.. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
m.. No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and
make friends.
n.. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
o.. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
p.. Stop when you have had enough.
q.. Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
r.. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
s.. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

An Interesting MEME Idea..... What Would You Say?
Someone has come up with an app that will post messages to your facebook wall
after you "DIE". I got to thinking about what I would say and to whom I would say it.
I'm sure that my tombstone would be vandalized by some of the people that I told
off with my postmortem screed. I am sure that some people would also realize how
much I loved and cared for them.
Anyway... the meme idea was interesting but i don't think it would be a good idea to
really list the things I would say to others after my death considering that I'm not planning on dying.
Maybe I will do a post and date it for 50 years from now...................
Take Me Back To The 1960's.........
