That's Fuckin' Funny Right There....

Stardate..04/04/2020 6:00am...The Pulse Of Things...

As of today things around the bunker are "off" but not to the point that some of you are experiencing. Essential businesses are open so I am working full time and trying to be as safe as possible with my fellow employees. It's weird having the constant voice in your head say "don't touch your face" "sanitize your hands" "are you 6 feet away"  "if that fucker coughs again, I'll kill 'em" etc.   We are trying to follow the CDC guidelines and any additional rules that corporate EHS deems necessary.

I do know that sooner or later the CCP virus will show up then things will change. Until then, at work,  we are doing what we can.

The "Boss of the house" is working from home. Restaurants are doing take out and delivery as well as selling beer and wine if you so choose. State liquor stores are open as well as all the other essential businesses. I make sure to be extra thankful the person behind the counter each time I need to shop. Just as the First Responders and Doctors and Nurses, they too are on the front lines.

Off work it's Social distancing, limited interaction with others, sanitizer in the car, projects around the house etc.  One good thing is that I have lost weight. I pretend everything has corona virus on it :). Other than my supply of adult beverages.

The past:

Back at the end of January I was starting to see some of the puzzle pieces that were showing up on the the webz. Obviously, to those paying attention, and those talking about it, these various items raised a small flag but nothing of the concern or indication of what was coming.

( back in 2019) >>>  Chinese researcher escorted from lab in Winnipeg

 Harvard scientist arrested

Trump, on Feb 4, had mentioned the virus in his State of the Union address.

China welding doors shut in Wuhan    << My inner voice said "what the fuck are they trying to contain?"  (Thoughts of "The Stand")

Then I saw talk of supply chain issues and how much we truly rely on China for all our products >>>  PROCTOR GAMBLE<<<

At this point I started adding extra items in the shopping cart and ordering extra from amazon.
Just in case. I also purchased extra items for family that are in Taxachusetts.

Question:

An acquaintance recently went for a job interview. The person conducting the interview asked, "are you familiar with The Seven Rules of Reasoning?". He replied that he was not.  After the interview he began to ask other people if they'd ever heard of these seven rules. So, far no one has answered in the affirmative. He has tried Google, etc., but hasn't had any luck. Is anyone reading this is familiar with the said rules, please explain. The hotties are just eye candy so you hounddogs will stop and read the post! LOL

Forecasting COVID-19 impact on hospital bed-days, ICU-days, ventilator days and deaths by US state in the next 4 months

FWIW... I found this info posted on twitter. These are projections for what might happen going forward. You can spend some time navigating the links. I added a few below. I can't verify any of the data or forcasting methods I only share it for those that can or chose to.

 Irish.

The model was most recently updated at 6 a.m. Pacific, March 30, 2020. To view the changes, please visit our estimation updates page

 Importance

This study presents the first set of estimates of predicted health service utilization and deaths due to COVID-19 by day for the next 4 months for each state in the US.

Objective

To determine the extent and timing of deaths and excess demand for hospital services due to COVID-19 in the US.

Design, Setting, and Participants

This study used data on confirmed COVID-19 deaths by day from WHO websites and local and national governments; data on hospital capacity and utilization for US states; and observed COVID-19 utilization data from select locations to develop a statistical model forecasting deaths and hospital utilization against capacity by state for the US over the next 4 months.

Exposure(s)

COVID-19.

Main outcome(s) and measure(s)

Deaths, bed and ICU occupancy, and ventilator use.

IHME’s COVID-19 projections were developed in response to requests from the University of Washington School of Medicine and other US hospital systems and state governments working to determine when COVID-19 would overwhelm their ability to care for patients.
The forecasts show demand for hospital services in each state, including the availability of ventilators, general hospital beds, and ICU beds.
The demand for these services is expected to exceed capacity.

Does Anyone Remember ♫♫ Planet P Project ♫♫ from the good ol '80's?

Reader Steve sends this.....

Greetings!   I have been enjoying your site daily for a couple years now.   Thank you for the variety of content.  Your work is greatly appreciated.

I was listening to a business report discussing the economic effects of closing businesses..   Someone complained that shutting down the factories and killing the stores was worse than the virus.   That line brought me back to a great album from the 80's   Planet P's  Pink World.

The title song, Pink Wold  https://youtu.be/6ubi2unmN4o?t=4m59s  is very fitting to our current crisis:

Cancel all your credit cards and settle up your bills
Cause you won't need them anymore
Close down the factories
Blow up all the stores
Cause there's a pink world
Comin' down

Of course this album was written back in the days of our frivolous youth when all we had to worry about was nuclear armageddon.   (I miss those good ole days lately)

Another classic from the album that comes to mind with lockdowns everywhere is A Letter From The Shelter   https://youtu.be/6ubi2unmN4o?t=1h1m51s

Hope you enjoy them, please share if you do!

Thanks Steve! Irish
