Cliff Note Issue...
John Deere 4210. Hydrostatic Transmission. MFWD.
The Hydraulic steering actuator is leaking from the top seal.
I can get a new one from Deere.
Last night I spent an hour or two trying to find an alternative , such as
a rebuilt with core on my old one.
Just seeing if anyone else has had similar issue and resolved it.
Can you remove and replace the leaking seal? Otherwise, check the internet for hydraulics repair shops and call them and ask for their advice. Deere crap is so overpriced as are original parts from other tractor manufacturers. Nearly always a cheaper and just as high a quality available elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThere is a rebuild kit available but you need to buy special tools as well.
DeleteYeah, yank that sucker out and send it to a hydraulics shop.
ReplyDeleteYou want nothing to do with tearing into that little bitch.
You might find a used one on FleaBay but you'll be rolling the dice.
There's a ton of parts for JD mowers there, I was amazed.
Even reproduction parts. Ya might get lucky.
The local Danfoss repair place is 4 weeks out. That's too long.
DeleteWatch Wes Work on YouTube. He's probably fixed one of these, seems like he's fixed just about everything out there.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'll check it out.
DeleteGoogle "Sauer Danfoss OSPM 100 ON". Showing technical manuals, service manuals, repair kits and alternative locations to purchase.
ReplyDeleteFk Google
DeleteGoogle actually gave the most search results vs duck duck go.
DeleteDDG has gone Google, basically. They turned evil.
DeleteI've been using startpage.com, still evaluating it; seems to be OK.

What will the OEM part cost ya?
ReplyDelete1300.00.
DeleteYikes! I'm sure that's NOT a misprint or shifted decimal there!!
DeleteNope list price 1300.00+
DeleteWatch Wes Work I agree
ReplyDeleteI've worked in hydraulics and hydrostatics on the repair side for 22 years now. Buy the JD product on hand now. Danfoss bought White Drive Products a few years ago and closed them down and then bought Eaton with Charlynn last year. As part of that purchase several of these gerotor product lines from Danfoss and Eaton were spun back off into a newly made White Drive Products company that has no relation to the old White, knows nothing and has no stock or distributors still.
ReplyDeleteTry these guys tractorpartsasap.com All States Ag Parts
ReplyDeleteShade tree mechanic here. I could $%#@ that up for ya with my usual methods.
ReplyDeletei.e. tear into it thinking I could fix it, buy the new part.
What price did tractordude sell it to you for??
ReplyDeleteTractor dude sent me to tractorpartsasap. They had one "used" in stock for $570.00 I ordered it today and will get the
Deleteother one rebuilt at some point for a spare.
Perfect. Well done.

JHC!!!!!
DeleteMy butthole puckered just reading that.
$1300 new and $570 used?
Dayum, these two Freebies quietly rusting out in the yard are looking REAL GOOD right now.
I think I have a little over a Benjamin in one and half of that was just for the freaking battery!
Just went through this with my 2750. Parts can't be found, shops are either closed or so far behind they laugh at you, seals sitting in ships off the coast of somewhere. TIME IS MONEY. For $1300 JD in your hand... Son, make the deal and move on.

Hoyetractor.com may have one or you may be able to get similar from Jap grey market tractor. i have a Yanmar and they used to make the John Deeres under 50 HP if I recall correctly. JD may still use Yanmar engines in some models.
ReplyDeleteifI remember correctly. Some parts cross over. I think JD may still use Yanmar eengines in some models……
Watch Abom79 on YouTube. He does these from time to time
ReplyDeletehttps://www.midweststeering.com/product/replacement-sauer-danfoss-150l0053/
ReplyDeleteI was on that site a couple times and that never came up. Weird. I don’t remember if I searched the 150l0053 or not. It says they have a few in stock. I’ll use the one I ordered today and keep an eye on it. There is a 1 year warranty even though it’s used. BC In the earlier comment mentioned Danfoss had reopened white Drives. I looked them up and saw that they are over in Poland so that’s maybe that model that’s being sold at Midwest steering. It says it’s manufacture in Europe. Thank you very much for the lead
DeleteFord rowcrop tractors were notorious for leaking on top shaft seal of orbit motors if you used the steering wheel to pull on to get on tractor.
