Good info: If you know and are good to go, forward this to someone who is not familiar with the basics of using a compass. This is about as simple as I've ever heard it explained.

    It’s far too easy to get complacent with GPS. Those things can and do fail.

  5. Best advice I got in land nav. Always carry a second compass. You will argue with one, but you can't argue with two!

  6. An old Marine maxim...there is nothing more dangerous than a lieutenant with a compass. I'll pass this along.
