  2. We will assume for the moment that no other "more correct" saw was available. Not a critical thinker when she ran out of "capacity". Sadly too typical in today's youth. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Sorry Irish. Just my dad's old saying.

    1. A hacksaw works really well if you want a fine rather than a rough cut. Also, she could’ve turned the saw 90 degrees to finish the job.

    2. easier to turn the board 180 degrees

    3. Not if you want a straight cut that matches better than the Zilwaukee Bridge...

  4. My wife's father was a mechanical genius, invented several things and was an excellent machinist. He could see something in his head and build it without even a cartoon sketch on a napkin. His daughter, on the other hand, barely knows which end of the screwdriver to pick up.

Don't let them pick out your senior accommodations.
Just die alone and happy, at home.

  8. Give her an E for effort as my dad would say.

  9. Is that ironwood shes cutting with that hacksaw?

    1. If it were ironwood she'd have smoked all those tiny teeth on the saw's blade.

    1. Give her a break-she looks like a 7th or 8th grade girl in a shop class. If she sticks with it she will be a good buddy to have out at the dirt track in a couple years for some lucky guy.

  11. Poor upbringing, and an obvious lack of guidance. This, in what appears to be a shop class of some sort. The person making the video was possibly more interested in having something humorous to upload than acting as mentor. Opportunity lost.

  12. Okay, we're gonna remove the rearend and rebuild it. Hustle, hustle, we're burning daylight.

  13. It looks like the vise isn't even bolted down. Talk about opportunity lost.... I want to yell at someone.

  15. OK, who hasn't done something that felt just as dumb as this (when perhaps a little too much alcohol was involved)? Be honest now. (Pretty sure I figured it out faster than this (even when way too much alcohol was involved)).

    1. One time I scaled a six foot fence and afterwards saw an unlocked gate not four feet yonder. No alcohol involved but it was night with low lighting.

      Does that count?

    2. Depends on whether or not there was barbed wire on top of the fence.

  16. Government school (indoctrination center)...break any desire she may have had to learn. Keep them dumb and dependent.

  17. I was born in the late 50s and I had shop class in elementary school. All of us knew more than her when we entered on day one and that is sad with the dumbing down of America. My sons are in the 30s and I made sure I taught them and so did my wife. They know how to handle life and this girl obviously does not.

  18. You would think a shop classroom would have a cut off, or radial saw.

  20. I always hated it when that happened to me

  21. That could be me, TBH. I am a complete klutz as far as actually DOING carpentry and mechanical tasks, but I had a nearly 40 year career as a mechanical drafter designer, culminating in being technical lead on some high profile projects.

I've long thought of myself in Dungeons and Dragons terms: 18 INT, 3 WIS. My long suffering wife is the one who can actually do the work...

  22. Need a smarter valentine. Can obviously tell what the problem is, makes the conscious decision to ignore that knowledge and just keep repeating what doesn't work, as if more concentrated wishing it will work, will work. You've seen the picture of what body part the valentine heart was modeled after, right?

  23. I only did that ONCE, as a very young kid.

  25. Ya gotta admire the fact that when she notices it ain't workin, she just goes faster n harder.... She's gonna make some lucky guy a helluva good dimwit girlfriend, someday. ;)

  26. Wife material, there. "The gunstore had a special! Two for the price of one."

  27. I set up my 4x6 bandsaw to cut off a piece of aluminum a couple of months ago and same sort of thing happened. I screwed around with it going, "why isn't that cutting?" way too long before I noticed what was going on.

Used to tell the young EEs I was mentoring, I reserved the right to be wrong. I really don't want to be, and do my best not to be, but sometimes I f*ck up.
