Sadly, almost half the voters in the United States are this ignorant

I love it when the interviewer asks how "social-democracy" should be funded.

I saw this first at Free North Carolina

The mindset and answers from some of the mental giants being interviewed reminded me of this joke I heard twenty years ago. When I tell it today, I substitute liberal and conservative for demokrat and Republican for obvious reasons.

A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost. She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below. She shouts to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consults his portable GPS and replies, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolls her eyes and says, "You must be a Republican!"

"I am," replies the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answers the balloonist, "everything you tell me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you're not much help to me."

The man smiles and responds, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am, replies the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," says the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."

  2. I heard a similar version of the joke:

A helicopter with a VIP on board loses all electrical communication and navigation equipment in the middle of a heavy fog, being left only with his mechanical altimeter, compass, and artificial horizon.

He slowly descends until he is able to make out a large building. Hovering just outside the window he scribbles out and holds up a sign to the office workers inside: "Where am I?"

The workers inside scribble out their own sign: "In a helicopter"

The pilot nods, waves thank you, climbs above the clouds, takes a bearing and flies to safety at the nearest airport.

Amazed, the VIP asked how he knew where to go.

"Simple" the pilot replied. "The answer they gave me was completely accurate, but totally useless, so I knew it had to be the Microsoft campus!"

  3. It must be painful to wander through life as dumb as a bag of hammers; especially after receiving a university degree in economics.

One thing is for sure: she is not alone, and if stupidity was lucrative, her constituents would all have millions.

    1. I've taught high school economics. With the statements she's made there's no way she would have passed. Makes me wonder why no one is really scrutinizing her professors.
