Useful Information

  1. I live in a Virginia suburb close to DC. I think that in the event of a large scale nuclear attack the odds of my survival are quite low, actually. The most likely scenario I can imagine is that my radioactive ashes would emit a soothing, if deadly, green glow for millennia.

  2. What water is going to be working so you can rinse off? The radio would probably be useless because of the EMP. Brush you clothes off and breath the cloud of dust you create, great idea! Who runs around with a change of clothes too? If you want truly helpful info get the book from the US government Effects of Nuclear Weapons which will describe what you really can expect

    2. I got the book from the US Government may years ago and as I recall I had to call an office in Colorado to request it by the government assigned number ad not by title. You can only get one in your lifetime and it was free. It is a dry read but full of info, graphs, formulas, and some pictures. You have to decide how best to protect yourself for the book only describes the effects. This is actually quite easy after reading the book. I was able to locate a full copy it on the Internet and provided the link here http://www.deepspace.ucsb.edu/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Effects-of-Nuclear-Weapons-1977-3rd-edition-complete.pdf

  3. #1: Don't look directly at it. Turn your back, hold your hands in front of you and look at your hands. If you see the flesh melting off the bone, it's probably too late to seek shelter.

  4. I live about 10 miles from the Los Angeles / Long Beach harbor, and about 4 miles from the Long Beach airport.

If we get hit, a change of clothes will be the last thing on my mind....I'll probably have just enough time to notice the fireball before I get to meet my maker....
