Thanks for the update, tho a bit saddened to read it. I grew up in ‘Bama n moved to Houston in ‘75 where I saw him in a small honky tonk. He stayed n signed and shot the breeze maybe an hour. Told some good stories and seemed a good guy. I hope he’s with the Lord now.
The link provided a confusing headline "Groundbreaking country music star who once killed a man dead at 73". It appears to show him at 73 years old and describes him as once killing a man dead! (That's how they talk in the South)
I am born and bred Southerner and thought the headline confusing as well. When I click on al.com, I have to hold my nose. Besides being a liberal publication, their grammatical skills lack sometimes. I knew the intent and that is the reason I threw in the @ for at. I would have thought Johnny was older than 73.
I've always loved a Texas waltz, and he did one of the best. Look up " Dance with me ( just one more time)" on YouTube. They don't make music like that anymore..RIP Johnny.
Many good songs I still like to this day. Another good one gone,

What a voice. This is one of the songs I always thought needed two or three more verses. RIP JR.
