I lived in a place, when I was in the Navy, where the sun came up ~9:00AM and set at ~3:30PM in winter. Conversely in the summer, it rose around 3:30AM and set after 9:00 PM. Kinda sucked going to the chow hall in the dark in winter on both ends of your shift.
Minot, ND, '72-76, Minuteman missile site. Sat on the back of a 5-ton truck reading a book while they sent parts out to the site, Turned on the box light at..22:30 to read a book while we waited for parts and got up and turned off the box light at 04:30. That was in the summer. I did just the same reverse thing in the winter, although we did it in the CAB of the 5 ton truck with the heater vainly trying to keep up with the cold outside...
Can we all try to remember that standard time means noon is when the sun is due south, and equal parts light are either side of that time? Thus a 12 hour day at solstice means sunup at 6am, sundown at 6pm? Anything else ( like DST) is a manipulation of our natural day.
According to timeanddate.com, the worst I see for Concord, NH is 4:10pm on Dec. 5 -13. Unless you re-located to the north pole....LOL
