Practical Power Pot V Re-Charging Cookpot

Brock had a post up about Rucksack Battery Charging Systems last night and I commented on some systems I have been researching for camping, etc. Anyway he put my comment up as a post and I thought I would share the information here.

I have a solar charger that will fully charge in about four hours of sunlight and will retain enough power to charge a cell phone twice. I also have a LED light I can plug into it for some major light if needed. Although it will not charge AA and AAA's it is still a handy device. I have been looking at the thermo generation systems that are powered by a campfire, stove, etc. There are several models available, but this is the one I am leaning towards based on reviews, weight, and function. They can be found a little cheaper on Ebay, etc.

  1. haven't commented in a long time. You are still setting the standard for everyone else.

  2. This is interesting....I need to tell Ken about it. Would even be great to have on hand during extreme weather situations.

  3. Solo stove fits in the pot for carrying and is a great cooking stove.

  4. Also,the 10W has just been released.
    More surface area.
Will email photos of 5W setup.
Solo is a rocket stove that requires no juice.

  5. Thanks for stopping by and for the comments. There are several models/variations available. I had a post a while back showing a "gassifier" stove that is fueled by nothing more than twigs and costs practically nothing to build (large can, small can, some wire to make a rest for your pot or skillet). I built one and it works great. It wasn't an original idea. I saw it on YouTube and there are several variations of these types too. Once the fire gets hot it burns the gases trapped inside the wood (as well as the wood) and has almost zero smoke. Using twigs for fuel and and themo-generation system such as PowerPot, one could have an alternate electric source while hunting, camping, hiking, or as Lisa statef, in extreme weather or emergency situations.
