In Two Hours They Will Test The EAS System.....

What are your thoughts on this?


 Okay, my first thoughts are:


 Do we need a "National" Emergency Alert System/?


Aren't most emergencies local?


Don't The Cable News Networks Already Preempt Programs
with important stories?


I can understand if the super volcano under yellowstone was due to erupt, or an asteroid or comet was going to hit the United States, or we were going to be attacked by aliens, you know something that would affect MOST of the country but other than that I don't see the need to warn the whole country about an emergency that would only affect a small percentage of the population.


Look what the cables news shows did on 9/11  everyone was transfixed to the TV and the internet
all across the world. They instantaneously brought us live coverage of that. What was the GOV gonna do? Warn us that there were alot more planes and scared the beejesus out of all of us?
The news did a good enough job of it.


When there is flooding, or hurricanes, or tornadoes, or tsunamis aren't they all localized
considering the scope of the disaster to the size of the country?


I guess I just don't see what this will accomplish or what it will be used for.....

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are spearheading an aggressive public education campaign reminding Americans not to panic when they lose television and radio service for a few minutes on Wednesday during a test of the Emergency Alert System.

Although the public alert mechanism is decades old and often tested and used at the local level, it has never before been tested on a nationwide scale.

This first-ever test will occur at 2:00pm EST on Wednesday, November 9 and will occur simultaneously across the U.S. and its territories, lasting up to three-and-a-half-minutes.

Can We Stop Whats Coming?

As I spend time surfing the blogs I am realizing more and more that we are becoming very divided in this country. I look at the video clips of the protesters for the OWS movement and I read daily postings that raise not only the writers blood pressure but mine as well. I have tried to not let it get me in a constant state of aggravation that's for sure. I was just sitting here and as I read all the good posts that they smart people write, I can't help but think that there is nothing that will stop the inevitable conflict that is coming. 


For instance I read "DADDY BEARS RANT" earlier and all I could do was picture him standing at an OWS encampment and trying to explain to them and get them to understand what he was saying.

I posted an "OP_ED" earlier in the week from a local paper that is in full support of OWS. I have a feeling that if you were to meet that author on the street and show him that facts and the figures and explain to him where he is wrong... not that everything I believe is right,  I thing his response would be "Stop watching Faux News".


We are NOT going convince any of these people that the government is NOT the answer to the problems. That we need to ALL try and downsize the tax burden and the national spending and the government. 


I see the division getting wider and wider, and as we head into next years election it is going to get ugly. If "you know who" holds on and gets re-elected WE as a country are screwed. If "you know who" gets his ass handed to him we will see some major civil unrest I believe. 


I try and not let it get me too stressed out. Other than personally being alert and prepared for the warning signs I don't think there is much that will happen to stop the impending trouble we will see.......


..... and thats where the Chocolate Vodka comes in handy.

Is It Wrong?

..to think this way?


I was driving home tonight and got to thinking. Maybe we just need some shit to start so we can get this over with. I know that innocent people will die and there will be lots of bloodshed, but I feel it's coming anyway.

There are a few things that will cause some major changes.

Iran or Israel attack each other.

The radical islamists are successful at pulling off a major terror attack here.

The inner cities erupt in rioting and violence.

The market crashes

Some of these things are very close to happening and there is nothing that can be done to stop it. If we are going to have to go thru it the lets
just get it overwith, I'm getting sick of waiting to see large red font on Drudges website when i go there.

Too Early to Wake Up On a Saturday Morning..
