Oh, damn, did I have the hots for Virna Lisi when she came out of that cake. Thanks in part to the Doubleaughtwhatshisface craze there were bushels of gorgeous European actresses filling the TV and movie screens (Senta Berger Elke Sommer, etc.), in addition to many a luscious homegrown lass (Laura Devon, Lisa Seagram, etc.). To be 16 in 1964 was like the Happy Hunting Ground.
All too soon, it ended with hippie dippy girls that looked like sacks of dirty laundry, feminuts who wanted to look like men, lesbians with lavender hair under their arms, and undernourished actresses that were supposed to be glamour girls.
In the immortal words of Maurice Chevalier, "Ah, yes, I remember it well".
