You Pick Your Friends Not Your Family...

Family member (1) whose whole family had covid last year  was chatting

 with Family member (2).

At one point FM(2) makes the statement- " You know, Covid REALLY hit home the other day"

FM(1)- "Why, what happened?" concerned

FM(2)- "Well, the manager at work was diagnosed"

FM(1)- *blinking*  kept mouth shut, walked away.

Tonefuckingdeaf I tell ya'.

  1. My mother, a dyed in the wool democrat mother of five, said at a large family gathering "We were lucky that none of my children went to war." Everyone immediately looked at me....deployed in the first major unit for Shield/Storm, deployed 3 times for OIF and 1 time for OEF. I just shook my head and walked inside because days before one of those earlier deployments, knowing where and why I was going, she said "I'd rather pay the terrorists for oil that let one of Dick Cheney's friends earn a dime off of me."

    2. I feel your pain. I moved across country to care for my mother, who was a life long liberal. She spent her last couple of years calling me by the name of my brother, who was in prison for drug dealing (again), and had never come to see her unless he needed money. Still hurts all these years later.

    3. Me Hyatt - having been in a very similar spot myself….I remember that I did that for my Family member because they deserved the love and care. Not because I wanted them to know “I” was helping. I’m sure the case was the same for you. I respectfully offer my reminder in hope it helps you

    4. Ho-lee geez. I thought I was the only one that had to deal with that shit.

"who was in prison for drug dealing (again), and had never come to see her unless he needed money. Still hurts all these years later."

      Sounds exactly like my brother

    5. Yes. Thank you Clay. I have observed over the years there is always one child who does the honorable thing. Do not fret for the Blessings of the Savior who's birth we celebrate this month have been bestowed on you and you may not realize it. My Dad was that child and so was I. Would not trade all those difficult hours for all the money in the world. Especially the one's for my In-laws.

  2. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't wipe your friends off under the couch.

    1. Or, variously: "You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose."

    2. You can always pick your friends nose but you may have to boink them over the head with a Shillelagh first.

  3. I'm pretty sure 75% of the country, and 100% of Common Core grad youngsters, think that a "pandemic" means the cooking utensils get sick.
