A. Butt Pirates B. Profiteers C. Assholes D. All of the Above

I know many on here reading this "washed your hands" of the Cheaper Than Dirt gang when they posted jacked-up ass-rape prices immediately after the Sandy Hook _______________. They used that ______________as an excuse to price gouge folks, particularly in the areas of ammunition, magazines, and firearms. Now, they have done it again. As a few examples, 7.62X39 steel case Russian ammo is almost a dollar a round with a case costing $971 plus S&H. 9mm FMJ 115 grain American Express $1.16 per round plus S&H. Winchester .32 acp is a dollar per round for ball ammunition. This is preposterous. Below are some more examples. Show them how much you approve of their unethical practices by dropping them a line and/or "voting" with your wallet. There is still ammo out there at decent prices, but I know the smart readers who stop by here are already well provisioned in this category.

  1. Price gouging during disaster/emergency is ILLEGAL in Texas - which is where I think CTD is located - they need to be dimed out..............

  2. Yeah, I quit buying from them quite a while back and blocked their emails. I'm plenty stocked up from buying ammo and loading components over the years when I could get great deals. I had so much .22 ammo on hand that I donated quite a few bricks to my club for the youth league when the last great shortage hit. Hey, it was cheap Remington Thunderbolts, but it kept the kids shooting when they would have had to close up shop. A lady at work used to give me $10 off a $50 purchase at a local sporting goods chain, so I'd get 4 bricks at $14.95 each once a month. That was a long time ago...........

  3. I never bought from them again after that.

If you did, then you are a fool.

They are banking on the fact that folks like you forget.

    1. For all intensive purposes, what a person has is what a person has got (food, water, medicine, comms, etc.). I heard a guy say today, "if I get through this, I'll never get caught with my pants down again".

    3. It sure is a damned shame that these guys didn't listen to us even 10 years ago when they were busy calling us names when we were actually prepping for disaster. Now they're kicking themselves in the ass for not listening but this is a really bad time for them to try to learn about what works and what doesn't and what is actually something of value after a collapse rather than what something costs before trying times have set in. And after the last few weeks seeing these people in absolute panic trying to buy all of the toilet paper they could possibly find I'm not in the fucking mood to teach them shit about anything. They're who we need to fear and we've always rightly known it would be those idiots who posed the most significant threat to normal, sane people.

    4. Thanks for the grammar advice Hawken Cougar. but for your information, both phrases are acceptable usages of the Queen's English. As soon as you launch your new blogspot, let me know. I will be more than happy to stop by and critique your choice and use of words, phrases, inaccurate comma splices, spelling, general grammar rules, etc. I do appreciate you stopping by and I do not mind constructive criticism, etc., but you should really do your homework.

    6. Well said Jeffery! Let these assholes start blogging and see how well they do before they criticize the rest of us who DO it.

I bet he is a secret liberal.

    7. Jeffery in Alabama, honestly was not meant as criticism. I do however respectfully disagree that both are acceptable uses as one is an "eggcorn".

The last phrase of the web address that you provided (https://www.englishgrammar.org/intents-purposes-intensive-purposes/) provides clarity in the conclusion.

  5. We need to get a list of their websites, names, etc and post them..These lowlife bastards cannot be considered part of the POTG...back when .22LR was hard to find and .380 was hard to find we had a group of a##holes locally that were selling bricks of .22LR for stupid prices and people were buying it...I hate profiteers during such times...

  6. Gotta stock up when you can, not when you have to to avoid crap like this.
I went into a gun shop in Gallatin this morning just to price their ammo and that shop looked like it had been raped. The only ammo on their shelves were a few boxes of antiquated cartridges like 45-70 and 303 Enfield. The funny thing is, that shop always charged almost double what you'd pay online. Six months ago they were selling 5.56 for $450 per thousand when you could get it all day long online for half that, with free shipping in most cases.

  7. Saw this yesterday, lake city 5.56 880.00 for 1000 rds. I think I found it for 402.00 at one of my ammo haunts, just to check. I have been buying thousand rounds lots for more than 5 years of all calibers I own so I'm pretty well stocked. My wife got so bent out of shape that I have them delivered to my office. Looks like an ammo warehouse if you look under the counters.

  8. I'm sure many of you have seen or used this website when it comes to buying ammo: https://ammoseek.com/

A good source for simply finding deals is this website: https://gun.deals/

  9. If you stock up during the good times, you don't have to worry about this crap during hard times. I've always advocated buying a box a week of 5.56 if you can't afford to buy in bulk - 15 bucks a week ain't going to break anybody's budget and at the end of a year, you've a got a thousand rounds.

  10. Hey Jeffrey;

I used to buy from CTD until Sandy Hook and they shanked us regular gun owners. Since then, I swore that I would never get caught short again, and I would never buy from CTD. I wasn't critically low, but didn't have any excess to my "War Load". Since then, I would buy a box here, and a box there and after a while I had my stash pretty flush with multiple calibers for multiple firearms. I have kept my promise.

    1. Great time for the .350 if you bought a Dillon press 2 or 3 decades ago when they were relatively cheap. I love oddball cartridges and long ago learned that for them you pretty much have to reload your own. So I find this thread a bit amusing ... aside from bulk .22LR I haven't bought a round of factory ammo since 1985.

  12. I stopped buying from them many years ago. Much better places like sgammo.com and targetsportsusa.com.

  13. Three presses on my bench= roll yer own.
I did buy 5.56 when it was cheap at wallyworld.

  14. Too many really good, not greedy, customer-oriented companies sell the same stuff as cheaper than shit; someone mentioned Lucky gunner (1000 rds M193 -$280.00} PSA has Hornady Frontier 5.56 1000 FMJ for $350.00.
Please do your part in NOT enriching greedy bastards through this insanity.
Realize this is more than likely opportunistic gouging on stock they already have that they're simply expanding their profit margin on, without doing a thing but rearranging some numbers.
