  1. I'm pretty sure that's ARMA run at max settings...

  2. I'm an old fashion kind of guy, and I wonder, why don't the barrel's heat up and warp?

    1. Right?
Even wit rotating barrels, it would seem they have hot barrels.
OR- maybe they didn't care because it was some kind of demonstration.

  3. I machined a big ass dual Parabolic Dish one time for a DOE customer. We nicknamed it the Tandem John Deere Tractor seat. It was leaked that they were attempting to mount a Phalanx gun on the back of some big ass truck and use if over in the big sand box. But who knows. They picked it up in a Military Marked vehicle and split.

    1. PS, every experience, save this one, with Sandia National Labs was a pain in the ass. Pasadena.

  6. Now THIS Is How To Safeguard Your Bunker During The SHTF.... IF you have Uncle Sugar's infinite checkbook to pay for all that ammo. It could work for normal people if you get your ammo deliveries by the boxcar full.

I think that was used in a video about the people planning to rush Area 51.

  7. However, the incoming kept getting closer and closer. So it seems like it could be overcome eventually.

  8. I've seen this before somewhere else and the caption on that said it was the Iron Dome in northern Israel vs a rocket attack.

  10. video game. sound is close to accurate for the ol' R2D2- but the hits, flameouts and impact are def CGI.

  11. The thing that amazes me is that the real military ordnance is probably more impressive than this CGI stuff. The A 10 Warthog is definitely more impressive to me than this.
Plus, just reading about the Huey's in Vietnam, and the men who risked their lives to save wounded GI's are even more impressive than this post, even if the post was real. I know that the hardware probable saved many lives, if it was real, but the bravery of the men who flew into so much danger willingly in order to attempt to save American lives, are to me, all deserving of the MOH. I understand that you cannot give every single helicopter pilot who for the most part felt they were just doing their job medals, but that doesn't mean that they didn't deserve them.
And there are for sure hundreds, probably thousands of men alive today, who would not be, had it not been for the pilots who got them to an aid station fast enough to allow the surgeons to save their lives. And of course, the heroism continues today. While the sophistication of the dust off helicopters gets better, so to does the enemies hardware to attempt to shoot them down.
This close to veteran's day, I still cannot forget just how much we owe to those who stepped up when called, and stood in the gap.
