A Short Review on Emergency/Camping Lighting

I recently ordered one of these Lumaid Packlite Inflatable Solar Lanterns and was pleasantly surprised. The lantern only weighs a few ounces and folds flat, like this.
Then with a simple twist and a breath of air the lantern becomes this.

It has a small switch with three choice of brightness. It will run app. six hours on the brightest and up to fourteen on the lowest. It also has "flashing" setting and will flash for thirty-two hours. It is basically waterproof and floats. It will charge in about seven hours even in overcast conditions and will maintain a full charge up to three months. I paid around twenty bucks with shipping. There are similar models available. I am not plugging this one in particular, but have tested mine and am so satisfied that I am buying another.

  3. It was around $20 bucks and I bought it off Ebay. There are several different sellers as usual. After I showed the lantern to a friend of mine, he started searching and found a similar light at Academy Sports for $14. It didn't seem as sturdy, but had the same lumens. Luminaid also makes a larger version for app. $40. Thanks for stopping by.
