What the hell is going on with earthquakes here on the eastern seaboard? We had one here in CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA last year that lasted about 30 seconds, the first one I've ever been through in my 30+ years in this state. The beginning of the end?
The Cascadia Subduction Zone is as long as the subduction zones (the longer the fault length = the bigger the earthquake) that created the December 26th 2004 and March 11th 2011 megathrust earthquakes. Seattle is in the worst possible place: the Puget Sound will channel the resulting tsunami and make it twice as tall.
I am glad I live on a hill that is more than 400 feet above sea level.
