Rare Back And Crow Boys! You did good.
"He used his badge, his office, and his political influence to lobby against the God-given right of law-abiding Alabamians to carry without having to beg the government for permission."........ BamaCarry spokesperson
The BamaCarry spokesperson was referring to the defeat of Lee County Sheriff Jay Johnson who has served that office for nearly 30 years by Cam Hunt who Johnson fired after he announced his plans to run for Sheriff Johnson's office in the upcoming election. Hunt, who served as Marine and in law enforcement prior to his teaming up with Bama Carry a pro-gun PAC/lobbying organization advocating permit-less carry, etc. Read more about this "triumph over tyranny" in the below links.
Always nice to see a tyrannical cop get shown his ass. Lets hope it does not get stolen!

This. This right here is why my wife and I sold our home and permanently relocated to Alabama. We love it here. Best decision we ever made.

ReplyDeleteShhhhh! Let that be our little secret! LOL
DeleteOf course I am proud Johnson got beat. I am not very familiar with this story, but several years ago when the notion of permit-less carry was first introduced, many sheriff's in Alabama fought it hard. It wasn't necessarily that they were anti-gun, but a matter of money. Sheriff's in Alabama had/have control over issuing permits and the revenue generated from those sales are considered "discretionary funds" that the sheriff can keep as part of his pay or divvy out however they saw fit. Open carry has been legal in some form all of my life in AL. A resident of Alabama can carry concealed if they are over 19. The only reason I buy a permit these days is for reciprocity while traveling in other states. The first permit I obtained, my granddaddy bought it for me when I graduated high school. He also gave me a model 39 S&W that was unfired. The cost was $15 (1982). I was 18. The sheriff gave me a "deputy card" too. I am sure this one done as "favor" to my grandfather. They were good friends and both WW2 veterans', etc. The most I ever paid was $35 per year. After turning 60, the price is $10 per annum. I believe after turning 65 there is no charge, but I'd have to verify that. Thank goodness for the 2A or there never would have even been any discussion about this issue in a government court. Never give up your guns!
