I heard it on the radio yesterday.

It never really seems like Christmastime until I hear "Merry Christmas mein friend".

I have wondered if the Christmas Truce of 1914 was the inspiration for the song? I truthfully doubt it from the looks of the Guardsmen back in the day(i.e. old album covers). Still, it is a great story of "peace on Earth" even if it was short lived.

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men". Luke 2:14

Please read above, it]s regarding the common mistake of the "goodwill towards men". It is explained very fully about the error.

  7. Similar to Dark Side of the Moon and Wizard of Oz, and back before they reformatted the local news, if you put on The Royal Guardsmen “Snoopy and his Friends” album side 1 when they weatherman started, you were in for a trip. As the radio news started the weatherman is pointing out the fronts, as he finishes you get to the musical interlude for the commercial break. The radio news and the battles begin in perfect time for the daily sports highlights. Enjoy, and “Merry Christmas, mein friend”

Now, don't be too harsh on the Pulpman; 35 years of Christmastime retail will give anyone PCSD: Post Christmas Stress Disorder.
