Remember Dan Fogelberg? I remember a buddy playing his first album. Wasn't too impressed. Told the guy so. "But Joe Walsh is killin' it on that song!" "Who's Joe Walsh?" SMH.
Following is all the Eagles playing on Dan Fogelberg albums you never wanted to know! Walsh didn't play on Fogelberg's first album, it was his second album Souvenirs. In addition to playing and singing on the album, Joe Walsh produced it. Also, since the topic is Eagles, both Henley and Frey made appearances on Souvenirs. Walsh and Henley also appeared on Nether Lands as did J.D. Souther. Henley appeared again on Twin Sons of Different Mothers. Henley and Frey appeared on Innocent Age. Timothy B. Schmit appeared on Windows and Walls, Exiles and The Wild Places, as well as touring with Fogelberg in 1993. All of these guys were friends, Eagles and Fogelberg had same manager. Eagles asked Fogelberg to join the band, he declined as he wanted to focus on making his own music. I've wondered if his decision also had something to do with the rifts within the band and the way Henley/Frey acted.
"Backyard people and they work all day, tired of the speeches and the way that the reasons keep changing, just to make the words rhyme." Prophetic ! Always loved Joe.... VC
Maybe it's just me, but as far as I'm concerned, the Eagles were just Joe Walsh's backup band after those two assholes Frey and Henley ran Miesner and Felder out of the group.
Joe Walsh is an insufferable liberal a hole. That being said his best career move was joining Eagles and his contributions really rounded out the band. As for his solo work, imo, this song is his best, the other stuff was, again imho, nonsensical crap. Great guitarist non the less, so I give him that. Rock on.
We wore out my buddies Eagles greatest hits 8 track in high school
ReplyDeleteHe first recorded that for Barnstorm. Walsh is cool, I've met him several times.
