After the new year’s festivities had concluded, I actually had to read the included SFPE article and it is quite interesting. Having heard it literally hundreds of times. The song, Smoke On The Water, is the story of an actual event. The prologue and epilogue of the video adds much needed information to the story’s significance. “No matter what we get out of this, I know, I know we’ll never forget…”
Typical modern journalist writes an entire article about an event, and completely fails to mention where it happened. I always thought it was a place in Canada.
1976, moved into my house. Bought the stereo system for the living room. A true 4 channel. 4 Retilinear speakers in all 4 corners. I found a 4 channel record of that album. That was the first record played on my Dual 1219 turntable. It was fantastic as it started and went around the room. Just fantastic. I still have the speakers and that album.
Zappa and the MOI lost almost all their gear in that fire. It was a huge financial hit that took him years to recover from.
