  1. First Amendment or not, there should be a law against playing Christmas music on the radio before Thanksgiving. Or displaying Christmas merchandise before Halloween.

On the other hand, suppose the current wave of entertainment AI produced a piece depicting Bettie Page singing “Jingle Bells”…….

  2. That coal burning mudshark only does Christmas now?
I'll stick with 80s guitar metal.

    1. Wham singing a Christmas song is enough to make you jam your chopsticks through your eardrums.

  4. Exactly...ruins the sentiment. And like Anon said, Christmas merch. showing up with ghouls and goblins is ridiculous. BUT, all for the money by artificially lengthening the sale season...same as playing Baseball in late Fall, extend the season, gain more revenues.

    1. Exactly, and “there is a time and a season,” doesn’t just mean there’s a time for a thing, it also means there’s a time to NOT do the thing.

  5. In the Philippines they start decorating and playing Christmas songs at the beginning of September. They really don't have any major holidays that they celebrate before Christmas. Although this year I was looking for Christmas songs a couple of weeks ago because of some bad news from one of my sons and needed some cheerful music. The station here in Central Ohio that normally starts rights after Halloween waited two weeks to start this year. Different strokes.

  6. I was in Harbor Freight (I know, but the cheap shit is perfect for what I needed) and Mariah Carey came on. I told the worker walking past me that he must have done something really wrong in a past life to be subjected to that shit before Thanksgiving.
Christmas songs before Thanksgiving is one reason why I'm beginning to hate Christmas. Not the day itself or the reason we celebrate, but the commercial destruction of it.
