This man's name is John Hurley, Most have never heard of him....

A year ago today, John was shopping in Arvada, Colorado, when someone started shooting. So Johnny went to the direction of the gunfire and shot the shooter. Then the

killed him.

Go read through the thread if you like.

  2. I'm guessing he didn't have his flashing neon "Good Guy" shirt on either?
Running around with a gun out at an active shooter incident...?
    No...?
    Well, ...bummer.
    Color me shocked.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
And maybe, if you're at huge risk for mistaken identity in such a situation, which is every single time, not running around gun blazing unless you're defending your own life or those you hold dear, because of exactly this risk, would be a wiser approach.
Johnny's a poster child for poor situational choices.
    He paid for that mistake.
Don't make it into more than it is.

If there's bodycam footage of APD executing him after he dropped his gun and was no threat to anyone, get back to me.
If, OTOH, he was standing on the scene with a smoking gun in his hand when the cops rolled up on him with bodies all over...well, there's your answer, isn't it?

They probably weren't any too happy about things either.
I've been as harsh as anyone on stupid or outright murderous cops.
    This doesn't sound like that.
Change my mind with contrary facts.
    Just saying.

    1. My only issue with your take is that given what we've seen with nearly every major active shooter case, chiefly those that hit the MSM, there's something off. Seriously, how many have LE from local through the feds been involved with where they've refused to show footage, hindered investigations, threatened witness etc... Even if there is independent footage showing otherwise, the LEOs involved will investigate/oversee themselves and declare it's not their fault.

As long as the people who need oversight are the same in charge of investigating and punishing themselves, I an no longer inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt; since, again, police depts. ranging from local to the federal level now have a public track record of poor training, biased policing, and cover-ups.

    2. Sorry, Aesop, but you are showing your ignorance. In our academy at the San Diego Police Deparment - as in most police academies, I'm sure - we were shown scenarios where officers killed the wrong person because of poor training, or not following good training.
This is America, not Russia, Cuba, Mexico, China, etc. where civilians are not allowed to own and carry firearms. A law enforcement officer from ANY agency needs to identify the shooter and then order them to lower or drop their weapon. We don't go in with guns blazing because we have no idea what has just taken place.
Would you be saying the same trash if John Hurley had been an undercover or off-duty officer who responded and was killed for stopping an active shooter? Only if you are stupid or a dick.
ALL of us who carry need to make the choice. Only save your own ass, if you are a dick. Save your loved ones and only them - well, you're still a dick but because of poorly trained cops like in this incident, I can't say I blame you. But I'm pretty sure most of us will take the shooter down if he or she refuses to drop their weapon, in order to save innocent lives. (And no, if Pelosi, Schumer, Waters, Cheney etc. are being attacked, we are not talking about innocent lives.) YMMV, but don't put down a man who gave his life to protect others. Hurley simply ended up justifying his belief in anarchy over poorly trained authority.
One more point: in many police departments we have officers who we call "felony cops", because they rush to every felony call in hopes they can use their duty weapon to kill a "bad guy". Some are so hot to shoot someone they don't bother to consider it could be an innocent person, or that their crime does not justify being killed on the spot. This Kraig Brownlow may well have been such a cop.

  3. You obviously didn't read the thread, where he was shot in the back, with no verbal commands to "drop your weapon", etc. You also slipped in a "threat to anybody" and ignored the person who started shooting. Just 'bang' and then the cover-up until multiple FOIA requests force the city to tell the truth. They then had the gall to say they hoped it'd bring 'closure & healing' to the people affected by this.

Closure would have been the cop charged for manslaughter, but that will never happen with qualified immunity.

    1. You obviously didn't read my post, where I said "Show me bodycam footage." Twitter thread "evidence" is worth what you paid for it: Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Closure would be telling the truth. All you're doing is throwing gasoline on something you don't actually know jack about. Anyone can do that, but that doesn't make it a good idea. Exactly like playing Batman at the mass shooter incident.

If you've got actual evidence that amounts to more than "someone on Twitter said...", post a link. I'd like to see it. So would probably everyone else who isn't afraid of facts before they make up their minds.
