and It Just Kept On Raining......

Sump pumps running. Everything smells like a wet dog. The paddocks are muddy. The lawn needs to

be cut.....I'm sure we will be in a "drought" 2 -3 weeks from now even though all the bodies of water

I drive pass are at a very high level.

    1. Yep, and Texas sized ones at that. Last night one tripped my security light. It was big enough to stand flat footed and rape a Turkey.

  3. I've been looking at the Labrador and Bermuda highs over the ocean almost daily for the last couple years here https://www.ventusky.com/?p=18;-102;2&l=temperature-2m and
    here https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-92.68,38.09,392

Neither one of them are in their usual positions which perhaps explains the how of recent weather in the northeast over the recent months. The Labrador high has shifted wwwaaayyy southeast and the Bermuda has also shifted a little south, but not as much as the Labrador.

However the lack of rain burnt spots on the lawn outside the condo are still there despite getting a deluge on a couple days over the last week or so.

  4. As I read this I'm also watching out the kitchen window at the pyrocumulus from the Bootleg fire this afternoon. It has to be approaching 50kft. We have to get our outside chores done in the morning. Once it hits 95, I'll just make myself sick if I stay out.

  5. Has anyone thought of contacting little Greta for an explanation? Surely mankind-and most assuredly white men-are responsible for all the undesirable rain. I just wish she'd reconcile that with the drought going on in our neck of the woods.

  6. Happily, al the rain was a boon for us. We looked at 3 properties either during the downpours or shortly afterward.
Hard to claim a dry basement when it is pouring!

  7. Here it is mid July and the grass should be brown and crispy and the creeks dried up but everything is green, growing and the creeks are almost overflowing. It's the beginning of the end! Sorry, I let my inner prog-liberal out for a second.

  8. Meh, complaining about rain in the summer? You need to move to California... where rain in the summer is as common as an honest liberal. Fire season is almost on us. One moron with a cigarette, or a couple power lines slappin together in the wind, and CA will be burning again...

  9. It's been so wet that my tomatoes are rotting on the vine!

Don't get me wrong - we have a well that's a crap producer, so I'm always thrilled with rain or snow. Still, a break? I'd like a couple of fresh tomatoes!
