TGIF!!.. This One Will Raise The Bar On Weekend Festivities!

(WHDH) — A man is facing a slew of criminal charges after police say he drove his friend to the hospital in the bucket of a stolen front-end loader last week.

Jordan Evans, 33, of Nebraska, was arrested Friday night on charges including felony theft, fourth-offense DUI, and driving during a 15-year license revocation, the Lincoln Journal-Star reported.

Investigators say Evans stole the front-end loader, which is valued at $75,000, and arrived at the Bryan Medical Center West Campus in Lincoln shortly before 11 p.m. with his injured 40-year-old friend in the bucket, according to the news outlet.

Officers responding to the hospital reportedly found a piece of machinery blocking an ambulance bay and spotted a bottle of alcohol in the loader.

Police noted that Evans appeared to be intoxicated and that he didn’t have permission to take the loader.

Evans’ bond was set at $30,000, jail records indicated.

An investigation remains ongoing.

His Nickname should be "Dewey"

  1. A couple of years ago, there was a guy from Stanton, Nebraska, arrested for drunken driving while driving a farm tractor. He lived in town, but had his license revoked so he drove his tractor twenty some miles to Norfolk for some reason. When I was a kid, a neighbor had his license revoked [this was in the 1950's] and every morning rain, shine, blizzard, whatever, he drove his "H" Farmall with a small trailer three miles to town with the milk and eggs so he could buy his daily pint.

  4. ...and then there's the VT guy, back in 2012, who. pissed at the cops for a recent drug arrest, drove his tractor over all of their police vehicles. Think he might have been high when he took revenge?

  5. Depending on the friend's condition, he may have a get out of jail free card on the OWI, at least. In extreme, life or death circumstances, the rules change. Just because you're a drunken hero, doesn't mean you're not still a hero!

    1. I agree! Drop the theft charges, keep the DUI.

  6. I'm not discounting everything, but if the guy took the loader for the sole purpose of getting his friend to a hospital; charging him with theft seems kind of a dick move.

    1. Agreed. The loader is worth $75K. What's his friend's life worth?

If we were still a nation of laws, then he should be covered under the Good Samaritan laws. Many states have a specific legal carve-out for life saving measures taken under duress. But he should still have left the damn bottle behind. Maybe too drunk to realize it was stupid.
