Would You Agree With The Premise That "It's Time To Call a Convention of States "

Irish, I need your help. I've written a piece on the Article 5 convention of states and I have no way of getting the word out. Your network is far better than mine.

It's Time To Call a Convention of States

There was a time in my life when I thought a convention of states was a radical move. I don't think you can predict with certainty how bad things can get or just when it's time to invoke something like a convention of states. The stolen election and the obstruction of any kind of investigation or quest for an accurate vote tally is the last straw. Our government, meaning Congress and SCOTUS, is like a drug addict or alcoholic. We can either intervene and attempt to stop their reckless behavior or we can all suffer the consequences and watch our government die.

“On the final day of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, when our Constitution was adopted, Americans gathered on the steps of Independence Hall to await the news of the government our founders had crafted. They asked Benjamin Franklin, ‘What do we have, a republic or a monarchy?’ Franklin replied, ‘A republic, if you can keep it.’ Our responsibility is to keep it.”

  1. No, the first thing we would lose is the 2nd amendment.

    1. Totally agree with Ed on this one. There's only downside to calling a convention.

  2. Seeing as the Demonrats and their commie street thugs feel no obligation to obey the law and the present Constitution there is no reason to expect they would greet the meeting of a Convention of the States with anything but renewed violence and treat any document coming out of it as anything more than toilet paper.
Sadly we have crossed the point of no return. Their violence will only be stopped by confrontation with extreme prejudice.

    1. Don't disagree. My comment below is mostly a rant about what I would change. The Supreme Court has made it clear that we now have a post constitutional lawless government and writing a new constitution or changing the old one is not going to fix it. I don't like it but I do recognize it.

  3. I've been saying we need an article 5 convention for years. My suggestions: Delete the 16th and 17th amendments, delete the general welfare clause, Term limits for everybody including the Supremes. Clarify the second amendment as an individual right that strikes down all gun control laws. Return to the original intent of the State legislatures appointing the presidential electors. Also certain states that reach some maximum level of overpopulation get a cap on number of congressional seats and representation in the electoral college. Also - delete the Posse Comitatus act and assign the US military to defend the borders. They are supposed to be protecting this country instead of going on foreign misadventures or guarding Europe. Other than that I haven't given it much thought.

    1. All great ideas... except, heres the thing.
A Constitutional convention menas the whole ball of wax is up for debate, not just the parts you don't like.
Are you willing to risk losing a cherished right in order to make an imperfect document better?

    2. We can stipulate the Constitution is not up for grabs. After seeing the 5600 page covid bill nobody read once again- screwing over every taxpayer in this country- I'm not sure what the debate is.

  5. Have you read Braken's EFAD trilogy?
Call a concon. The left will hijack that shit quick as Pan.
Fuck us out of everything in one shot.
Might take years to do it otherwise.

    1. This.
Anyone calling for a ConCon needs taken out back, registered as Democrat and fed through a MorBark feet first. If they get out of the other end alive, THEN I'll hear what he/she has to say.

  6. I have seen no evidence anywhere that the state-level idiots in 50 states are any better at things than the idiots from all 50 states already in D.C.

Like whacking a mule with a 2x4, the first thing you have to do is get their attention.

After the skulls of our enemies have been piled up, and the tops removed to serve as drinking utensils, we can begin to talk about conventions and such.

Don't put the cart before the horse.

  7. I wonder how the founders felt when somebody finally said:
    It's time we stopped talking.

  8. I’ll try again. In theory we can call a convention of states and both propose the amendments and pass them at the convention level without involving the federal congress but in reality we need the state corruptocrats to vote for the convention and they are not likely to do so and threaten their status and benefits to their families as ruling aristocrats when a term limit amendment is in the forefront. The movement for a convention of states has been going on for some time but just can’t get the votes. Perhaps we need to try the methods used by lech waleska in Poland and if that does work Pinochet ( with god as my witness I thought communist could fly). I truly believe that we are still in the majority otherwise the flagrant election fraud would not be necessary. As far as the Pinochet comment goes I will attach an article that stays closer to the facts of that history https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/12/rethinking_pinochet_in_praise_of_strength.html

  9. No, it's time to start blacklisting Communists again. Then we start enforcing the laws they've broken.

Then we send as many as the jails will hold to prison. Then we build more prisons.

And, if there are traitors, like Jane Fonda, we shoot them.

The Democrats have been at war with America for 100 years, if we're honest.

And, if they want to sent their soy boys into the streets, we shoot them.

We do not need a new Constitution or a new country.

We need to start enforcing the old one.

  10. As a long time reader and a never poster there is a time to play the Trump card. Whether it be him or us i would agree.

  11. I believe that we are way past being able to negotiate a deal to get us out of this mess. That leaves one solution, unfortunately

    ReplyDelete
  12. No. That's what they want. The left is stealing elections; why would we believe that this would turn out beneficial to the republic. We'd end up disarmed(wink, wink), reparations coming out of every check for a acidic group, and having "deputized" groups spot checking your house to make sure you're disarmed and anti-racist enough. No.no.no. I have neither enough fertilizer nor ball bearings for such a thing. We'd be better off starting a propaganda program dropping flyers, leaflets, and post-it notes everywhere you go. Remember, rubber gloves and masks are an important tool in games like they. Start playing the lefts' games. What is there to lose at this point?

    1. The trick here is to remember they're not nice, so why should we be?

Don't negotiate. Do it. Screw unity. Screw bipartisanship.

If (I use the word facetiously) a Demo broke the law, arrest, try, convict, and imprison him/her/it with the max sentence (that's how the PUS-Elect made a name for itself) with no parole.

Treason? Dead, and none of this fairy lethal injection. Rope, bullet, the stuff that makes an impression.

Fake News and the rest? Blacklist (if not treason). The blacklist ran from the late 40s to the mid 60s. As soon as it ended, the propaganda started.

Demo-sponsored riots? A whiff of grapeshot.

Term limits for the Federal government. All of it.

  13. No convention of states , open the can and a lot of things can be changed , or taken out . 1st ,2nd , 4th . Don't think it can't happen . Our Constitution is just what we need , along with supreme court that knows how to inturpet it .

    1. It's not that the Supremes don't know how to interpret it, it's that they don't have the cojones to do the right thing. Roberts needs to remove himself from SCOTUS before somebody does it for him.

The founders got it right the first time, now it's time for Patriots (Constitution lovers) to stand up for it. If it is necessary for the Fourth Box to be opened, I won't like it, but I do remember my Oath when I was sworn in to the Military.

  14. way past that. time to elect reps to form a new govt in exile in kansas or other central area. take the military brass, nis, secret service with trump as interim prez. declare a new nation based on the original constitution. surround d.c. and other blue cities while you wall them off sadre city style. there are no blue states only blue cities. they do whatever they like but we are no longer bound by their rule. but burn d.c. it has to go. plow the roads leading to it. salt the earth.

  15. The democrat/communist cult would delete the entire Bill of Rights. So "No thanks" to a Convention of the States until we have cured the authoritarians of their need for power and control.

  16. People all in favor of an Article V session are ignorant of history. The 'Constitutional Convention' started out as an 'Art-V' type meeting to modify the Articles of Confederation. It went rogue when those who wanted a stronger central government that could dictate to the states (recall that under the A-of-C, every state had veto power).

America got lucky once (and stayed lucky for three generations). Will we get lucky again?

Full disclosure - this abomination of the 'Convention of States' is about the only thing that my wife and I disagree on. She is an organizer of some sort, and is convinced that all of the people attending the meetings if / when, will be honorable people and limit themselves to what their state has authorized them to do.

She has no response when I ask her what mechanism, short of defenestrating any rogue C-of-S delegates exists

  17. Go ahead and call one. Then we can deselect the unfaithful at the front door.
Save us the trouble of hunting them down.
You gotta know it would compromised and hijacked two seconds after being called into session, right?
If you think otherwise then I suggest you need to really start paying serious attention.

  18. No and hell no. All your remaining freedom of speech on "hate speech" grounds and to bear arms would be flushed instantly.

I know its a bitter pill but the US is not a country, It an empire held together by dollars , cheap goods and inertia . It can't have a Con Con simply because there is no nation there.

And yes I get the desire for an easy button, unless President Trump takes office and makes really good decisions, its not gonna happen.

If he just wins, 4 more years to prep

And if he fails? Executive order gun bans and buybacks, maybe door to door searches and every horror of the Reds on your door. It may the end of the Republic.

  19. There is nothing in particular wrong with the current Constitution.....other than the fact that the Government at virtually EVERY level simply IGNORES IT. Any effort to call a convention to tinker with it WILL see the big moneyed interests and the commie left infiltrate, subvert and suborn such an effort. It would be the PERFECT opportunity to essentially eliminate the Constitution.....not that they obey it now.

The ONLY solution to the problem at hand regarding the lawlessness of our government is blood.....THEIR blood...... leaking out of their bodies in massive quantity. Short of that tar, feather and ropes used on trees is a satisfactory alternative.

The problem is NOT the ink on paper. The problem is that those in power do what they want IN SPITE of the legal restraints that words allegedly wield. They DO NOT FEAR US. And until that fact changes the commie left and the power mongers in office have zero incentive to stop what they have been and are continuing to do.

When they go to bed at night wondering DEEP DOWN INSIDE if tomorrow will be their last day on earth, if they will die at the hands of a patriot for their crimes and abuses, then and only then will they even LISTEN to us.

  20. There are two primary shortcomings of an Article V Convention.
    1. The same politicians who are running the show will be the ones to meet to discuss additional Amendments to the Constitution.
    2. It still requires ratification by 3/4 of the states to be added to the Constitution. Can you name 13 states that would block any conservative amendment? How about 13 that would stop any progressive amendment?

We have a good Constitution, it just needs to be followed, as written, using the meaning of words from the late 18th century.

  21. Won't work its already been hijacked. conventionofstates.org or com has been around for a few years. As it went nowhere I quit following. The guys who started it seemed solid as a rock. Many of the state legislatures did what they needed to do but not enough. The thing is like all organizations it will be in infiltrated and like someone said the first thing to go is 2A. I believe they were right.

    ReplyDelete
  22. No. I believe we need to clear out a lot of the leftist folks in biz and govt and certainly the press before calling a con conv.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have to agree with Bear Claw. However a clearing out before a con conv might work.
