I had almost this same situation driving up I-95 in Virginia. Usually within the first 5 miles in Virginia there is a good chance you'll find a Trooper/Cop clocking traffic. The speed limit drops between North Carolina and Virginia. So I'm always looking for them. About 3 miles from the border I reached up and removed my Radar Detector from the windshield, because I knew it was illegal in the State.
Sure enough I pass a Cop where I figured he would be and as I go by he pulls out and comes after me. He gets behind me and hits his lights and pulls me over. He asked for my license and registration, I gave it to him and asked why I was pulled over.
He says we have "detectors" in our vehicles that tell us if you are using Radar in your car. I told him listen, I know they are illegal in the State and I removed it from my windshield, It's right there in the (passenger] seat. He reached in the window and said yeah and it's still on. I didn't know it was still on and just threw it down in the seat.
Way to stick it to the police state trucker man.
ReplyDeleteWow, they ALMOST caught a criminal....really, what a waste of their time. Couldn't they be stopping illegal kenyan's?
ReplyDeleteGREAT JOB I GET A WARM AND FUZZY WHEN A STATE COP GETS SCREWED.
ReplyDeleteHe should have kept his mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fatass officer 1 was.

The Cop ended up letting me go without a ticket.
