Watching videos of a certain demographic on social media , it always seems that a smoke detector is beeping with low battery and they dont hear or acknowledge it
The idea that Black people do not hear or change smoke detector batteries is a widespread internet stereotype and social media joke rather than a biological or physiological fact
Some years back my tenants had a small fire in the laundry when their drier malfunctioned. I heard the local brigade turn out at the time and wondered whose house had caught fire. The fireman told me off because there were no smoke alarms (legally required in rentals) but calmed down when I pointed out the ring on the ceiling where it had been until the tenant removed it. The market then boomed before covid and I sold the two rentals I owned for nearly three times what I'd paid for them about 6 years earlier. I'm never doing rentals again as the present returns in my country are far too low to compensate for the work required.
I live out in the country in a blue state, I have a cousin who owns a couple of rental properties. And some of the things I've heard convinced me that I don't want to be in the rental business.

DeleteBeg your pardon. I worked 29 years for Chicago fire department. I can honestly say that the meme in question is an absolute fact.
