For Some Folks, Money Isn't Everything

Kentucky Farm Family Rejects Anonymous 26 Million Data Center Offer

$26 million is a figure most families could not ignore, but Ida Huddleston and her daughter, Delisa Bare, decided to turn down that offer recently. I am not sure what I would do, but I can say "more power to them". It is their land. They can do with it what they will. Story

  1. If the land in question is particularly suited don't be surprised if the family gets framed for a felony or suffers a "tragic accident" magically making the land "available".

  2. I was thinking more along the lines of eminent domain for the tax base.

  3. Can you say "eminent domain"? Gooooood! I knew ya could. They'll be lucky to get a third of the value.

  5. Kelo vs City of New London can still be cited as precedent—even if Kentucky passed laws against the use of eminent domain to “redistribute” private property.

  6. Close the deal inform everybody what’s going on and help them fight tooth and nail to prevent approvals as punishment for sneaky dealings, if there is an NDA coming secretly inform someone with proof before signing

  7. ps if you don’t think you the taxpayer is paying for the majority of this stuff wake up and ask yourself who paid for most of the wind farm infrastructure?

Oh, you say they got no taxpayer subsidy, well, of course not! They now get tax credits which are better, and those amounts of federal revenue shortfall are covered with borrowed money. It’s called the deficit for a reason.

  8. So far five generations of the same family has worked that land. I know a good number of ranchers. Several at 7 generations on the same land. Their life is the land, the land is their life. The two are one. Take their land you might as well have murdered them.

I'm just gonna say right here that anyone involved in a condemning the land in the process of eminent domain best be right with Jesus for they are about to meet him. Them with the powers and the authority also have the responsibility. They best be wise in how they move forward.
