Like The Storms We Used To Get …

Things will be getting busy prepping for this upcoming storm.

It’s been awhile since we have seen this amount all at once.

From what I’ve heard , the bread and mill crowds are already

Filling the stores.  Updates as things progress as time

Be safe out there ….,

  1. Local Kroger has a sign on the front door that milk will be available after 10:00am Friday. Bread aisle looks like a giant Hoover went down the shelves. Meats are pretty picked over, especially the smoked sausages & cheap ground beef.

I'm pretty sure this might be the end of the world...

  2. This can't be this 'serious', because they have not given it a NAME yet.

If they wanted to name it for something cold and icy, they should've called it Frigid Bitch!

  4. Glad I live where this isn't uncommon (but it is this year); preparation for such is a normal activity and taken for granted.

  5. We are dry dry dry in Utah this year, we've had .1" where 23"+ is normal for this calendar date.

Of course the Climatistas are squealing about Gore-Bull Wormering, and I'm going to ignore them.

Welcome to weather cycles, you fraudsters...

    1. Some years ago our area in the West had a very dry year. Winter was nearly over and no rain at all. Oh nos!
Then we got 24" in one month. It was a March miracle.
So, you just watch and be prepared.

  7. The weather widget is still calling for 22" in my bit of western NJ for the 2 day storm. Last big snow we had was 30" quite a few years ago. 2016 I think. Things were shut down a couple days but it never got so bad we had to open the emergency Spam.

  8. Right square in the middle of the 12-20+. Live east of Winnepesaukee near the Maine border. Always prepared. Going to enjoy my books, keep the wood stove going and plan my spring list.

  9. DRY and cold here in Northern Colorado. The snow pack is the lowest ever recorded in spots. Sure hope we get a wet Spring, 'cuz Winter short-changed us!

  10. Stupidly went to the supermarket today (southeast PA). It was a madhouse. I had a sobering thought that in a real SHTF situation, a lot of these folks just aren't going to make it.

  16. I don't remember the exact year, 1949 give or take a year. I lived just North of Boston and we got back to back early March blizzards. Just over 2 feet of snow each. I have a picture of me in the back yard standing over a 5 foot chain link fence and just the top 3 inches was showing through the snow. I think the weather used to be even worse. Just saying.

    1. I remember some good ones. '69 '78. No name storm '93. 2015 I think was record snowfall. Seemed to snow 6+ every 3-5 days for ever. There have been others but it's been quiet in NE for a while.

  18. Here in Colorado, we're getting a "wintery mix" of wet stuff. The problem today is that the temps are in the single digits.

    Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

  19. NE Texas here. Made a trip to the store to top off the larder last night. Took the last two loaves of mu usual brand of bread, but only because it was on sale Buy 1, Get 1 Free. Zero milk to be had other than buttermilk and milk substitutes (soy, almond, etc.); I passed.

Forecast is calling for 1/2" of ice, followed by a little snow starting midnight tonight and ending Sunday around day break. Broke out the heavy jacket, so only have one chore left: haul wood to the covered rear deck so it's close at hand.

I'm hunkering down, fire in the fireplace, book in hand, and spinning vinyl and burning tubes on the audio system.
