Local Kroger has a sign on the front door that milk will be available after 10:00am Friday. Bread aisle looks like a giant Hoover went down the shelves. Meats are pretty picked over, especially the smoked sausages & cheap ground beef.

Some years ago our area in the West had a very dry year. Winter was nearly over and no rain at all. Oh nos!

The weather widget is still calling for 22" in my bit of western NJ for the 2 day storm. Last big snow we had was 30" quite a few years ago. 2016 I think. Things were shut down a couple days but it never got so bad we had to open the emergency Spam.

DeleteI don't remember the exact year, 1949 give or take a year. I lived just North of Boston and we got back to back early March blizzards. Just over 2 feet of snow each. I have a picture of me in the back yard standing over a 5 foot chain link fence and just the top 3 inches was showing through the snow. I think the weather used to be even worse. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteI remember some good ones. '69 '78. No name storm '93. 2015 I think was record snowfall. Seemed to snow 6+ every 3-5 days for ever. There have been others but it's been quiet in NE for a while.

DeleteNE Texas here. Made a trip to the store to top off the larder last night. Took the last two loaves of mu usual brand of bread, but only because it was on sale Buy 1, Get 1 Free. Zero milk to be had other than buttermilk and milk substitutes (soy, almond, etc.); I passed.
ReplyDeleteForecast is calling for 1/2" of ice, followed by a little snow starting midnight tonight and ending Sunday around day break. Broke out the heavy jacket, so only have one chore left: haul wood to the covered rear deck so it's close at hand.
I'm hunkering down, fire in the fireplace, book in hand, and spinning vinyl and burning tubes on the audio system.

I live in Southern Arizona. The high today was 70 and the low last night was 61. We are expecting some rain this weekend but otherwise 60's and 70's.
