  1. I don't want to have anything to do with voice control. Think of an office building with a floor full of people in open cubicles talking to their computer via voice recognition instead of typing. It would just get louder and louder.

I have a Roku stick and it keeps giving me onscreen prompts to use voice commands. I say, "why would I want to do that?" I like it quiet in the house.

  2. Open the Pod Bay door, HAL!

...that didn't work too well either.

  3. My mother-in-law purchased a new Chrysler New Yorker in 1987 equipped with EVA - electronic vehicle alert. Whenever the car told her that "the door is ajar" she would immediately respond "the door is not a jar, the door is a door." I'm not exactly a Luddite, but I am a "boomer". I avoid voice activated systems when I can, and particularly dislike navigating automated phone answering systems that don't offer a keypad response option.
