Attack of Christmas Tree's Great Grandfather... I'm Gonna Need A Bigger Longship...

Earlier today I got a text from the neighbor "The big pine tree near the paddock is really leaning over"

Luckily the horses were in their stalls for the day.

We came home to this scene.

Did some saw work and pushed it all into a pile for now.

  3. Had a similar, but not as serious, one last week. Thursday we had high winds on the southern end of the Pennyrile, and I came home to about 20' broken off one of the oaks in the front yard. Ground's too wet to get one of my trucks out there. Like you, I was lucky enough that it was broken plumb off. Would've been tough for my crippled ass to climb up with a chainsaw, & I don't have to.

  7. Been there.
What use can you find for timber? Fencing? Firewood? Shame to waste it.

  9. I never wanted to use google to post anything, they track you down, so my comments were always anonymous. So this morning, as I always do because my girlfriend lives in communist Illinois and I in Florida, I copy some from Irish and Woodsterman to send to her as a good morning. Today, I copied a cat from Woodsternman, I copied the next Cat pic and I get a message from outlook, "let outlook see what you are posting" of course I blocked that shit. Well, can't copy and paste with outlook anymore. We are seeing censorship accelerate in this country as the wackos in charge become more authoritarian and squashing us citizens. They know memes are very powerful and they need to control us by censoring.
I am not anonymous, my name is Gary Bogue, I live in Fort Myers Florida, email glbogue@hotmail.com. I don't have time to try the art of memes, but they start me off everyday and now I can't share. Now its time to go to battle...

    1. I lived in Fort Myers for 20 years, then 20 more across the river in Cape Coral then moved up here to the great white north in 2006. I'll never go back to Lee County, way too hot and way, way, way too many assholes.

  10. I was standing out on the stoop at my place last Friday night having a smoke when I heard a crack from a breaking branch on a pine tree about 50 feet from where I was standing. Sounded like a pistol shot. Then the thump as the 12 foot long branch hit the ground followed by snow cascading off of the branches the falling branch brushed against on its way down. Kinda reminded my of the 2011 October snow storm in New England when branches and whole trees were being snapped off by accumulated wet snow weight.

  11. Looks like you also have a couple of standing dead hardwoods right there. Are you planning to take those out too or let them crush you fence again later?

  12. On the bright side, it's not several miles of them after your neighbors have successfully protested against the utility cutting the limbs that overhang the power lines.
