Very cool, I don't remember ever hearing this version.Btw, nice header pic...LMFAO!
Now I've got find who redid this in the mid or late 60s. The one I have stuck in my head sounds different.
The Searchers.
You're probably thinking about the Searcher's cover.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rXhXLsNJL8
The only version I remember is by The Coasters, and it was Madame Rue. But I am old and the mind isn't as sharp as it was.
Ruth rhymes with truth. Besides, sound on those old 45s was never that great.
The Clovers did the original in 1959. The Coasters didn't release their cover until 1971.
Did The Swinging Medallions do a version?"...the one with the gold-capped tooth."The Coasters are the deal.
the searchers recorded it in '64 and the coasters in '71
The original done by the Clovers. Written by Leiber & Stoller.
From the time when music was music.Showing my age.....77.
hjets: right there with you. I recall my uncle playing this version when it was new. Last week, wasn't it?
