Jayzus. I can't even remember what DECADE it was when I went and saw them in concert, let alone what year. I do know that I saw them in concert at some point over in Portland.
I don't remember ever hearing the intro that plays in the first two minutes of the second clip. 'Course back in those days, with very rare exceptions, songs that were over three minutes or so didn't get much radio play.
A true rock Goddess!! I saw them on the "Brigade" tour back in '90 at The Garden and they were fantastic. They are coming around again this summer, however they are touring separately with their own bands. Nancy has some other woman vocalist to sing her sisters parts and I don't know what Ann is doing, but there it is.
That guitar even sounds good on my phone. All with a 58.
ReplyDeleteThey were the Ginger - Mary Ann enigma back then.
ReplyDeleteOh God I love that song! And the memories it conjures up!

What red-blooded young man wouldn't want young Ann Wilson going crazy on him?
ReplyDeleteI can watch (and listen) to Nancy all day. Beautiful and talented. Attended a Heart concert back in '87 or so. My ears are still ringing.

Heck, Nemo, I was spinning platters in the 70's to early 90's and don't remember ever hearing that opening.
DeleteI love listening to acoustic guitar. Alas, my middle brother got the talent, the rest ran down Momma's leg then I came along later.
ReplyDeleteTried the banjo once, nopitty nope. Was left with just working hard all my life.
ps I have many favorite guitar riff's and those are two of them.
ReplyDeleteSaw them back in the early eighties, I think, here in the Syracuse War Memorial. Great show.
ReplyDeleteNot to take anything away from Nancy at ALL, but I'll bet Roy Clark could have kept the bass string going.
ReplyDeleteOr Glenn Cambell for that matter but lets face it…. Whole nother level.
