Australia had a law passed around '03-'04 that would address the shocking trend of young first time employees being fired. The 'obvious' issue was employers not spending the proper time and effort mentoring these youths.
DeleteSo they passed a law requiring any employer hiring a 'first job's employee to guarantee a full years salary, even if fired. THERE, PROBLEM SOLVED! Said the government. As expected, there were first order effects making it extremely difficult to find a job for first timers. The second order effects was obviously creating a new standard narrative based on living in Mom's basement.
The solution is obviously more government solutions. /s off.

ReplyDeleteA friend's son started off on personal computer flight simulators when he was still in grade school. By the time he was 23 he was a single and twin-engine licensed pilot with IR certification and was a certified flight instructor. He also had an MBA degree. A great young man.
