A belated Happy St Patty's Day to all! Thanks Irish. Had me a Guinness last night at dinner in your honor. In fact, I held you in such high honor that I had two more for dessert.
Arthur Guinness was opposed to the Irish Rebellion of 1798, an uprising of Presbyterian radicals who wished to overthrow British rule in Ireland. Guinness disliked both the economic disruption that the rebellion brought, as well as the violence it incurred. His son John was wounded in the fighting, further incurring the Guinness family's disapproval. Guinness's opposition to the rebellion garnered the ire of Irish Catholics and nationalists, who subsequently referred to his beer as his "black Protestant porter".
Not someone particularly representative of the Irish Catholic "wearing of the green."
Mr. Irish. You are one of my favorite people on Earth. We all owe you for all you do. You especially make Fridays even better, and that’s hard to do. Thank you.
Forgot add, one of my sisters was born on St. Patrick's Day. Nemo
