Now that brings back memories. Or should I say flashbacks? In addition to all their albums I have the short version of this on a 45 rpm backed with "Iron Butterfly Theme". Now that's one freaky cool tune. Used to hear it on Brother Love's Underground show back in about 1968 on WAMO-FM in Pittsburgh.
Yeah I have "Iron Butterfly" "In the Gadda da Vida" Best tune there ever was... I have three cassettes and two CDs to make sure Iron Butterfly is played at my wake.... I am beginning to think you are wishing for summer to come very soon, I am not dense, but I am noticing a pattern to your theme photos.... I second Bob T. awesome blog and it is Irish in nature amongst other things. I always come here at least a day.
Irish has spoiled me for the night. I'm now digging out some obscure tunes to listen to. Not that Iron Butterfly Is obscure, but now I'm in freaky tune mode. Listening to Buzzard by Armaggedon, Back Off Evil by Dirty Tricks and a great version of All Along The Watchtower by La De Das.
WAMO-FM was great as was KQV-FM, now WDVE, with Brother John. They played "Beck's Bolero" every day before the noon news. That was also where I first heard the Stooges and Black Sabbath. What a time to be alive...................
I also found a guy on line that collects air checks (recorded radio broadcasts) and I got some of Brother Love's shows from him. I actually remember hearing some of the shows that he sent me. That's how big an impression it made.
Along with underground music, I'm also a big fan of garage bands. There is a revival in Europe of garage music that's been going on for the last few years. If you're a fan, check out this Greek band called Yesterdays Thoughts. Makes me feel like I'm about 14 again...............
I saw them in San Diego in August of 1969 on my return from Vietnam. Awesome group and great music for that time. And yes it brings back a ton of memories.
