Yeah, I know, it's nasty. My dad smoked when I was growing up, every couple of years we'd un-ass ourselves and take down the curtains to wash them, being amazed when this colorful thing came out at the other end of the cycle.
You should see my snot after a day of welding. Pitch black, even the next morning. Now, however, I was able to convince my employers to buy us all welding hood/respirators (powered). Even at $1200 a piece it is a great deal.
