Dolly Parton Takes the Stairway........

This is a pretty good cover I must say......Just pretend for a moment that this was her own

original song...............

I found this over in the comments thread at "ACES" there are lots of links that are posted. Take a listen to some of them.

  1. Hadn't heard her do this before and a really great job. She has a new movie out.

  2. The first half is rough, but the last half is not too bad.

  3. First time I've heard her sing this too. Not Bad.

  4. Dolly makes the stretch and reaches the goal! Nice arrangement. The banjo, mandolin, and dobro work was very good. Nice find.

  5. Dolly's rendition of 7 Bridges Road is really good, IMO (it's on her bluegrass album Halos and Horns).

  6. I can't decide if this is teh awesome, or pure horrible sacrilege.

That it's difficult says something in its favor, for sure!

    Now...

As a kid, raised by a holy-roller preacher, who got beat literally half to death when Pop found a Lynyrd Skynyrd album hidden under my carpet ("Devil's music, don'tcha know - damn good thing he didn't find the Sabbath record or he WOULD have killed me...) I have a REAL hard time liking bluegrass or "gospel" (the only things I was "allowed" to listen)...

So... Yeah - the fact that I don't reflexively HATE it says a lot...

I've become a real fan of Hayseed Dixie - though they had to grow on me too...

Best example I know - listen all the way through, the greatness definitely grows!
