If the madness continues, the next thing is for the driver to overload the trailer, use a bumper jack for jacking the trailer, and having it fall on their foot.
Probably can't get the trailer to be level with the original bumper ball - note the wheel taken off of the trailer tongue jack. Clearance issue, probably. I'd put a skid plate on there.
And what do you want to bet the nut holding the bumper ball doesn't have all the threads engaged...
Ah, Turd-world Engineering. Gotta love it for the entertainment value!
I've got that one beat! A truck westbound on the I-10 with one of those cement mixer/trailers in tow. No hitch at all. It was just tied to the bumper of the truck with a hunk of rope! And people wonder why Mexicans are always saying "Dios mio! WHY ME???" I really.did.see this!
Buddy of mine bought a 5th wheel brand new at the dealers who tried to sell him the pivoting, spring lock hitch for $500 more than the standard cheap sliding bar one - he declined. Also offered to give a tutorial on hooking up the rig but because he was impatient, he declined that offer too. Drove up over the mountains ( 5000ft ) to visit and show it off. We found several defects so on the return trip he took it back to the dealer for repairs. While checking the rig out the service guy noticed that something was wrong with the hitch. Seems my idiot friend thought that the pin dropped down into the hitch, Basically, he came 250 miles down over a mountain pass with switchbacks and hairpin turns with a 30ft ,12,000 lb. 5th wheel just sitting on the hitch - not locked in, Boggles the mind...
I name this the double jack knife setup!
ReplyDeleteThe chains are too tight & the ball clasp doesn't have a lock but other than that it's a complete disaster. I have seen worse.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the chains is hooked through a rust hole on the bumper.
DeleteNot sure the lights will work with that type of connection either.
ReplyDeleteCC
WHAT connection? Taker another look...
DeleteThe lights on the truck probably don't work in the first place so he saved time by not hooking up the trailer lights. Good thinking! 🤣
DeleteIgor; maybe its WiFi...
DeleteCC
He does have the chains attached.
ReplyDeleteTo the rusted out bumper connectors that rip out....

Think I see Chinese writing there on the trailer.
ReplyDeleteAm I right?
That's a California plate...
DeleteVirginia license plate if you look close enough.
DeleteVirginia
DeleteWell he'll, Who cares.
ReplyDeleteIt's working.
Damn right. Sick of the ridicule of me betters.
DeleteThat's the cheapest "Cowboy Drop" I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThat's "special" backwoods engineering. You can trust me, I'm not a Redneck, but I play one in real life. Tree Mike

ReplyDeleteI wonder what Phil would have to say about this, eh Bustedknuckles?
ReplyDeleteI did my best. Sorry if it ain't up to your highness's standards.
ReplyDeleteThat is freeze dried stupidity.
ReplyDeleteThey use tie rods in Cuba as trailer hitches and no chains or lights...
ReplyDeleteKinda resembles our country at the moment?

ReplyDeleteNo, he didn't.
DeleteAt least it's not an Okie plate. Gotta love redneck engineering.
ReplyDeleteIt will get him as far as the scene of the crash...
ReplyDeleteThat there is a whole lot of stupid. . .
ReplyDeleteAnd when it falls off and kills someone, it won't be his fault. Like who needs a muffler any longer? No consequences, this is what happens.
