and just like that, WHO recommends that the PCR test cycles should be looked at due to false positives...

Come on now.. they're just fucking with us....

 h/t to David

Users of IVDs must read and follow the IFU carefully to determine if manual adjustment of the PCR positivity threshold is recommended by the manufacturer.

WHO guidance Diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 states that careful interpretation of weak positive results is needed (1). The cycle threshold (Ct) needed to detect virus is inversely proportional to the patient’s viral load. Where test results do not correspond with the clinical presentation, a new specimen should be taken and retested using the same or different NAT technology.

WHO reminds IVD users that disease prevalence alters the predictive value of test results; as disease prevalence decreases, the risk of false positive increases (2). This means that the probability that a person who has a positive result (SARS-CoV-2 detected) is truly infected with SARS-CoV-2 decreases as prevalence decreases, irrespective of the claimed specificity.

Most PCR assays are indicated as an aid for diagnosis, therefore, health care providers must consider any result in combination with timing of sampling, specimen type, assay specifics, clinical observations, patient history, confirmed status of any contacts, and epidemiological information.

  1. So they are saying what we heard from the beginning, that the tests are too sensitive and can often generate false positives. How convenient that this happened after Trump left office. Just like how convenient for New York to decide that they simply cannot afford to shutdown their entire economy due to a virus that is survived by 99.% of those who get it. He'll of a bunch of coincidences, don't you think?

  2. So we were right all along.

As with everything else. And you want people to be quietly angry?

    Screw that.

  3. and how much you wanna bet they're not going to go back and re-classify all those old positives?

    1. Nope....It'll just change going forward. Obviously the change in administration created lower new case numbers!

  4. The guy that developed the PCR test stated that any test done with a Ct of greater than 25 is useless. USELESS, you jerkwads... all you are doing is amplifying noise!

  5. It's all part of the plan. The tests are unreliable, it's actually just been influenza A & B and wu-flu counts will miraculously lessen every day for the next hundred days, and it'll all be thanks to our commandeer and thief's brilliant wartime strategy (at least according to the "media").
    All hail joe Xiden.....or else!

    1. Which is exactly like Trump's strategy down to three decimal places, but WAY more expensive.

  6. Did I tell you about the time (January 12th 2020, two weeks ago)...

At the doctor office, the new millennial doctor -- suffering from the mental illness known as 'hypochondriac' -- refused to enter the exam room until I removed my dual-filter respirator designed to eliminate VOC vapors and dust and pretty much everything else...

...and instead, put on an ear-loop cloth mask from the wall-mounted dispenser.

The dispenser with the warning label:
    * "this mask is not effective against any airborne virus"

Do you sometimes think you are the only sane person in throwing distance?
