One of the FFFF images that I posted last night was this one.
I was able to make out the sign on the right hand side that says "Casper Corral" with the horse and cowboy sign on the roof.
After some google-fu I found this:
and here it is today "street view" 2022. The old Casper Corral is on the right after the white van.
The road back in the 1970's carried 2 travel lanes and a parking lane.
Just finished breakfast about a half hour ago right across the street.
ReplyDeleteBrave man at Eggintons that time of day
DeleteStop into Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters, and get ya a new continental suite !!!
ReplyDeleteI see a yellow winged car, dead center of lead photo.
ReplyDeleteYup, nice
DeleteSpotted a Super Bird....'69?
ReplyDeleteCouldn't tell you which one it is, but there's a Plymouth Superbird or Dodge Daytona in the first pic, with maybe a Cutlass riding his ass. One of you guys can better identify them, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThat's a 'Bird. It lacks the super sexy coke bottle fenders of the Daytona.
DeleteI can't speak to the fenders from this angle, but I can confirm 'bird due to the radiator 'grille' being UNDER, not ON, the leading edge of the nose.
DeleteWhat strikes me most is how SMALL that Winged Wonder seems compared to the other cars in the photo; especially since I owned a '72 Road Runner and know EXACTLY how large the B-bodies were in that era.
A great many old cars now put out of reach by wealthy people with too much money sending the prices out of reason and reach.
ReplyDeleteIf I only knew my 1970 442 W-30 would be worth so much today...sigh.
DeleteWhat I don't see. BLM, Antifa, LGBTQ, colored hair or closed shops.
ReplyDeleteSo how do they take a street that is 4 lines wide plus parking on both sides where the sidewalks and buildings are already in and make it a two lane street with no more parking then before???
ReplyDelete"They" made it curvy like a snake, put in "traffic calming" bumpouts and stop lights at every intersection and voila!!
DeleteIt looks like they widened the sidewalks. The brick sidewalks aren't in the first two pictures.
DeleteThat was from back during the big oil-boom. There was also lots of uranium mining money around too.
DeleteThey eliminated the need to learn how to parallel park. Thus they introduce diagonal parking which takes up twice the area towards the street.
DeleteSo you did some research so I won’t have to. Thanks Irish
ReplyDeleteSecond street before the made it a single lane "curved street". The vertical sign on the north side of the street is hung on the Rialto theater. My dad bitched endlessly when they "beautified" the street. My gradparents used to live on Evans street in Evansvill and we'd come to Casper to visit them. I moved here in '85.
ReplyDeleteWow! We made it to Irish’s place. Been here since the mid 70’s. Great place. Popular bumper sticker here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Wyoming, consider everyone armed. Great people. But, alas state is full😉
