He was legally carrying under under Indiana's Constitutional Carry law.

Chief Ison said that the gunman entered the mall through the food court entrance at 4:54 p.m. He walked directly to the food court restroom. He exited the restroom 1 hour and 2 minutes later.
He shot and killed victim Gomez outside the restroom. He pointed his rifle into the food court, where the married victims were eating dinner, and shot them to death. He then shot more rounds into the food court, striking a 22 year old female, who is recovering from a leg wound at the hospital, the chief said. A bullet fragment ricocheted off the wall, striking a 12-year-old female running away. A minor wound was treated at the hospital, where a small piece of metal jacket was removed.
The shooter was then stopped by the Good Samaritan at 5:57 p.m. He was armed with a pistol and engaged the shooter as Sapirman stood outside the restroom area firing into the food court, Ison said.
Dicken fired several times, hitting Sapirman, who tried to retreat back into the restroom but fell to the ground after being shot, said Ison. Police recovered 24 rifle rounds fired by the suspect and 10 handgun rounds fired by Dicken.
As I sit here, I'm sure the media can't wait to interview such a hero. Pffft.....

DeleteIn Indiana, gun-free zone signs do not have force of law, which means that it is not a crime to ignore them per se, but only is a crime if you refuse to leave when asked by the owners

DeleteAs an aside, I read somewhere that Dicken made his shots at the killer from 40 yards. So, not only did he stop a killer, but did so at a pretty long distance for a carry weapon - fuck the media, this kid is a badass and (with how brutal this could have been) he should never have to pay for his own drinks again.

When in fact they know that it happens every day, they just willfully ignore it. Many more people are saved by firearms than will ever die of "the epidemic of gun violence" in America. They're only acknowledging this case because it would be impossible for them to get away with burying it like the usually do.

Seems he used rent money to buy $2000 in weapons alone, not including ammo, mags, optics and other ancillaries, or it'll be credit card purchases that will be used to shut down 2A credit card sales.
This rolls right in with the rest of the recent show-shootings as to dubious means of financial means of the shooters.

ReplyDelete40 yards with a hand gun is damn impressive shooting. Anyone know what caliber Dicken was shooting? 45? 9? Probably a 45. I heard a story, from police, that a perp took 6 or 7 9mm rounds and it didn't put him down. Of course always stupid Jotato says a 9 can "tear out a lung". ReplyDeleteAnd the original comment here quotes a news article detailing the heroic act of our good Samaritan having stopped a mass murder in progress, before you go on to cussing the news media for attempting to excoriate the hero. You’re cussing them for something which I haven’t seen the news outlets do with this story.
