I have quite a few driving songs in the archives, but the first one that the pic brings to mind is "Two Lane Highway" by Pure Prairie League..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioMQent_Ca0
Carry on My Wayward Son. Not because it has anything to do with the pic, but because I want to hear the entire song uninterrupted by traffic/stops/turns/etc. I just want to enjoy the music.
or
Rock Me by Great White. A nice long song for cruising down a long straight stretch.
Neil Diamond: Glory Road Boston: Long Time Henson Cargill:It's over Illustration:all songs minus 3 Basically make a cd that has all favorites, set cruise control and just enjoy the road.
I would play the same thing I always play no matter what road it is. Opeth - Blackwater Park or Riverside - Shrine Of The New Generation Slaves. Or like anonymous said, turn it down to see better, no distractions of any kind.
I would put in The Old Man & the Sea narrated by Charlton Heston. I tend to drive as fast as the music is playing & that has gotten me in trouble before.
I think I'd set the cruise control, pick something mellow, squirm around in the seat until I was comfortable, and nibble some munchies while zoning out. I've done a lot of long-distance driving, some of it on roads like that. Stuff I could sing along to. "Desperado" by the Eagles, "Bad Company" by Bad Company, "LA Woman" by The Doors, "It Don't Come Easy" by Ringo Starr, "Ghost Riders in the Sky" by the Outlaws, "Gimme All Your Lovin'" by ZZ Top...
Now, for the twisties, things would be much different. I used to have a playlist when I would ride with the Sportbikes.Net hoons. When you're winding through the mountains you want something to pump you up. I always started those playlists with Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" or Judas Priest's "Turbo Lover" (live version only; the album one isn't nearly as good) when rolling out of the meet-up point.
I've got a pretty eclectic mix, but my driving playlist trends heavy with classic rock, hard rock, and several flavors of heavy metal. Tonight's drive home started off with the new Volbeat song "Shotgun Blues." Nice, crunchy guitars. *grin*
A few of my favorite driving songs:
Within Temptation, "Faster." Boston, "More Than A Feeling." Golden Earring, "Twilight Zone." Deep Purple, "Perfect Strangers." Pat Benatar, "Shadows Of The Night." Rush, "Red Barchetta." Gin Blossoms, "Hey Jealousy." Amon Amarth, "War of the Gods." Judas Priest, "Turbo Lover." Blue Oyster Cult, "Don't Fear The Reaper." Sabaton, "Carolus Rex." Iron Maiden, "El Dorado." Nightwish, "Ever Dream." (The 2013 live version from Wacken, with Floor Jansen on vocals. Gives me CHILLS. In a good way.)
Fleetwood Mac's You can go your own way. Panamint Valley has an 8-mile straightaway, zero cross roads, 50-mile or better visibility, and USAF flyby patrolling. My "get in, buckle up, shut up, and hang on" stretch.
L A Freeway (Jerry Jeff Walker) July You're A Woman (John Stewart) Copperhead Road (Steve Earle) and of course, Pauncho and Lefty (Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson)
