Thank You All...

 Mornin',

Thanks for all the comments and well wishes on the employment, or lack there of, post.

I have a few irons in the fire and will be working on pursuing various options.

For now a little decompression and spending time outside in the sun and fresh air.

More later.

  1. I hope this little hiccup on the road of life won't affect the boobies!

  4. If the irons don't work out we've got a ball bearing manufacturer in the SW corner of the Show-me-state doing everything but press gangs to get good machinists.

    2. On second thought for someone with your qualifications they may well break the no press gang rule, beware any offers of free hookers and blow. ;)

  5. You deserve a break. Sucks that it's this way.

  6. I've been doing the same for the past month. Catching up on things in and around the house, mostly in because it won't stop raining in my little part of Ohio. I still have the wifey slaving away so it's all good. I sooo tire of punching a clock anymore. With my skills developed at this point in life, I see no reason why I can't work for myself. Art Sido figured it out and if he can do it, I figure, why can't I? Wifey knows everyone in our town and wants to get a food trailer or truck so we can serve breakfast and lunch to all the hardworkin folks in our little area. Some friends who own business and property in town have already told us we can park on their turf and serve it up. So anyway, enjoy the downtime. Ohio Guy

  7. Sorry Irish. Pisses me off when you slave for years at a company only to haver them quit you before you are ready. Kind of expect that it will happen to me at some myself. Will be as pissed then as you are now. Had it happen to a great friend a few years ago. He decompressed for the summer, and then found something much more satisfying. That doesn't solve the immediate issue, I know, but just trying to talk myself into that feeling as well because I know one day it will come. Take care and know that you have friends. I talk to you more via this site than I do some of my actual friends. Nothing against them. Just the ability to chat quickly and easily here.

  8. I don't know if this affects anyone here but Lockheed Martin is beating the bushes looking for aircraft mechanics for the F-16 Production restart in Greenville South Carolina.

  9. Bad berries like this often turn sweet - your attitude & approach today was great news & an inspiration. Hop the border to Maine for a few days R&R - it'd be great to see you & the door is always open. A possible plus, with 20 years as a head hunter some useful career tips might come up if the conversation turns that way.
Whatever else, John, may God bless, keep, and guide you.

  10. We have it drilled into us. Freedom 55. You gotta get out, buy that $700,000.00 catamaran, and sail off into a goald plated retirement. You must have at LEAST x million dollars to retire. You HAVE to have a ride of course, at LEAST a Corvette, but preferably something better.

I am seriously considering a humble retirement. I so hate that rat race, the queers, the affirmative action flunkies, the HR harridans, the soul crushing cubicle farm, and the whole idea of management. There's a lot to be said for rolling out of the sack and going for a walk with the dog. Or rolling over and going back to sleep. Long camping trips cost nothing. I have a little money saved, now maybe it is time to have some fun with it while I still can. I could drop dead tomorrow or get hit by a bus. Ya never know.

Be thankful, Irish. And be happy too. Best vengeance there ever was.

  11. Amen to the prior poster... be thankful. This may just be a blessing in disguise.

Last time I changed jobs was over 24 years ago. And it was my choice. Gave them two weeks notice, and made sure to tell them that their educational reimbursement program was horse manure (which it was). Big aerospace company, that soon after got sliced up into pieces and sold to the vultures. Which I took great pleasure watching.

I got hired into my next job by a teacher in a college class. At the time, I was still a few years from finishing my degree. I impressed him with the class projects I turned in, and the side work I had done, which was posted on the internet. First time he asked me for my resume, I thought he was just being nice. The third time he asked, I paid attention. A month after the class ended, I was working for him. Former Navy officer, just a real pleasure to work for.

And I'm still working for that company. Far better opportunity, it's been a real career. No regrets. The old company? Don't care. Why bother. Fuck em.

  12. Smith and Wesson is moving their headquarters to a nice little town near the mountains in East Tennessee. Its beautiful here, conservative, with lots of employment options all over.
