So, The 19th Century Was Just As Eff'd Up?

Every culture has its own standards. Moreover, time also affects these standards. What is beautiful may not be so anymore. For example, in Persian culture, the definition of beauty was different from Western understanding in the 19th century. In those days, Persian Princess Qajar was the beauty symbol in Iran.

Beauty Standards

In the 19th century, masculine features were appreciated in women. Besides, feminine features were appreciated in men. So, women were with heavy eyebrows and mustaches. And that was attractive for that era. Because of this many women were using mascara to strengthen their features. In contrast, men were trying to be slim and delicate.

Although through increased interaction with the Western world has changed the beauty standards since there was a woman who should be mentioned when talking about Persian beauty in the 19th century.

Where else have I seen these types of beauty standards lately?

    2. I didn't google her, I duckduckgo'ed her and got the same result. I'm glad you directed readers to her, because I was also going to say that when I was an LEO, I dealt with people from all over the world, and some of the most beautiful women I ever met were Iranians. Contrary to popular belief, Iranians are not of Arabic descent; they're true Aryans (yes, there is such a thing, and it has nothing to do with Nazi taxonomical fantasies).

    3. Back in the early nineties I had the misfortune to work with an Iranian for several months. The most arrogant, useless little cocksucker I have ever met. But his wife was gorgeous. Playmate, fashion model gorgeous. And he beat her. Funny thing, one of my best hunting buddies at the time was a family law attorney who just happened on to this case while I was telling him about my travails with the guy at work. In pretty short order the gorgeous wife was pried loose from the asshole and spirited off to safety in Canada and the asshole was deported back to his third world shithole and everybody lived happily ever after.

  6. Was just having a discussion of historiography, and said "From the point of view of the present moment, yes indeed, the world is going to hell in a handbasket, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN!" Which is why primary sources are essential for real history. Trying to see the times from their point of view is not an easy thing to do.
Yeah, if you think our times are effd up (and they are!) just look about anywhere in times past.
As for that poor girl who has KH for a stepmother, how could she NOT be effd up?

  7. In other words, Princess Qajar was the michelle obama of her day.

  8. Dude, anyone can be Effed up without being ugly as crap.

  9. Some people like femboys, others like masculine men, and then there are normal people who like more conventional aesthetics. I wouldn't necessarily call it beauty, but what is desirable does shift around and won't appeal to everyone.

I personally like big fluffy werewolves.
    Different strokes for different folks.

  10. Damn. I was just starting in on a bowl if chili with jalapeno biscuits when that popped up. Dog won't eat this stuff, I guess it's breakfast if the appetite comes back.

  11. Why do Italian men have mustashes?
So they can look like their mommies.

  13. Well, this certainly explains the male Iranian's fascination with goats.

  16. Was she really considered beautiful, or were people merely afraid to say differently when her father was the King in a ruthless culture?

  17. I needed a good laugh. The MIB flash after the collage was definitely needed and appropriate.

  18. Those pic's finally explain why men from the middle East have endless eternal anger. Imagine the WTF's when they were finally exposed to western women then going home where your wife looks like a uglier Uncle Abdul.

  19. That's enough to make a man's pecker crawl up inside, nestle all the way up beside the lungs and refuse to ever come back out. Beauty may only be skin-deep, but that kinda ugly goes all the way to bone. That's Helen Thomas ugly.

  20. I just saw the "Ron Jeremy 1898" caption on the picture of the fair princess, and laughed out loud. Roger Ebert once wrote that Ron Jeremy was so successful in the porn business because every man in the world considered himself sexier than Ron Jeremy. I can't argue with that.

  21. I begin to see why Middle Eastern men are attracted to goats.
