And Happy Thanksgiving to you too and everyone else here. As usual, I will over-indulge in turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie. And that's just the first helping.
So there I am cruisin' south, over the river and through the woods, instead of using the highway, which I should have because traffic was almost nil, due to the resident sheep in that unnamed state being as compliant with their governors STAY HOME order. That's as opposed to most holidays when traffic on the highway is bumper to bumper for 40+ miles, with occasional screeching stops.
Any way I'm motoring along on a fairly straight stretch of road when I see an all flat black, including darkly tinted windows all the way around, late model Dodge Charger, with a spotlight folded in on the drivers side window, coming toward me. I'm thinking State Police 'cause that's what they drive for high speed intercept on the highways in that state. I'm thinking I'm going to get a $500.00 ticket for trespassing onto Commie land from out of state with NO Covid passport. Much to my surprise, the Dodge just motored on by. Didn't see any brake lights when we passed either, so I guess that there are some police officers, if this was in fact an unmarked state patrol car, who don't take this lockdown don't visit with family on the holidays .gov edicts too seriously.
My brother used to bring a bottle of Maker's Mark on Thanksgiving to console me from the rigors of cooking a large turkey. Regardless of my attempts to misplace the bottle, he'd find it before he left for home.
